He stepped into fatherhood like Joe knowing exactly what not to do, and now me being 33 and knowing a loving, caring, and present father, this beautiful documentary has shown me that Joe’s son is going to have an incredible role model in his dad. Today I finally got the chance to sit down and watch this beautiful doc. I've been waiting what feels like forever to watch it after listening to Eric and Steven talk about it on Rally Caps for so long. I was upset that I had a busy couple weeks of college finals until I could watch it, because I wanted to give it the full love and respect it deserved, but man the wait was worth it because wow... This film has inspired me to run, be a living example for my daughter and train purposefully again. 16 years ago I ran a 3:38 marathon. Now at age 44, I am going to attempt to go sub 3:30 at the charlotte marathon in nov 2025. I want my 2 year old daughter to learn that age is NOT a limiting factor. Thank you for making this film.

That was beautiful to watch. It gave me so much more respect forJoe as a human being, hisr photography, his running career and family. I could relate. It makes me understand he deserves all the praise he gets and how the efforts and success come from struggle and not what I painfully admittedly used to assume, from a probably almost perfect life, before where he got to be now. Makes him a massive inspiration for me and not just as an artist. Which is extremely rare for me to say. Not that my opinion matters much, but anyways thanks Joe for sharing so much, being transparent and vulnerable and giving me a new important lesson in life. I’m a traveler, photographer, long distance/thru hiker and did a 50k ultramarathon as my first ever run in 2021 (a few months before getting diagnosed with a major hip bone disease) and will one day teach architecture which Is what studied. This gives me more inspiration on making my first photography book soon and running again after I finally get my hip replacement done. But most of all, more motivation to solve or better deal with my own past family issues and successfully forming a new family one day. Thanks for this

I was raised by my great grandparents in a small town in chickasha, Oklahoma. My parents divorced when I was 3, my mom and my dad both left us there until I was in 5th grade when my mom came back and took myself and my 2 sisters. My grand parents would eventually pass away, then my sister, then my biological father (whom I never had a relationship with), and now my other sister is estranged from my my mom and I. She has severe mental issues and we haven't spoken in years. My mother too, was awarded a large sum of money for my sisters death but she squandered it away. Thank you for sharing your story Joe. You enable others to share theirs. Others, such as myself that are ashamed to admit it, and no longer wish to feel weak or taken advantage of by their own trauma. It's not our faults but God wrote it this way and such as you I was blessed with a loving wife and new family and now have 2 children of my own. I would never imagined my life would have brought me this much joy, compassion, empathy, love that my grandmother once showed to me. She is up there now crying tears of joy and I thank her and I thank God and I thank you for helping me heal as well. My father in law once said to me "maybe you should be grateful for the man your father didn't raise you to be" and though I miss the relationship we might have had I am blessed to be whom I am without him.

As a former street photographer [ London 2014 - 2019 ] and now trying my hand at landscape work [ PNW, US 2024 - ] I've never looked at past or present photographers so didn't know who Joe was.
