There's a heinous V7 traverse where I grew up in Colorado that basically forces an iron cross, it's the only one I've ever seen and I've been climbing for about 30 years now. So cool seeing one actually forced in a gym.

If I remember correctly, I think most of the climbing in those scenes was done by Sharma. Obviously not really realistic or efficient climbing but still requires lots of strength and control. Super cool idea recreating it all 😁

Teo climbs 8A, after like two years of climbing? That's insane, dude's a beast
@Michael-zz8yx3 жыл бұрын
Hows that even possible?
@kevinleblanc15843 жыл бұрын
I did my first 8A shortly after hitting a year, like a year 2-3 months at most. But I climbed 4+ times a week, did lots of injury prevention taking care of my fingers and my skin, so on and so on. Not counting separate training of course. I wasn't able to climb any 8A in lead or top rope, lacking endurance but I could do some 8A's in boulders. More often inside than outside as outside are typically bit harder, not an 8A climber by any stretch at that point. Took me a couple more months to send 8A more consistantly. The man is dedicated is what I can say.
@3DSowner223 жыл бұрын
@@kevinleblanc1584 but surely you had some background in an upper body focused sport/gym experience? Otherwise how do you build so much strength in a year?

Do none of these walls have bolt holes? Screw-ons only?
@StonerFB3 жыл бұрын
You should put the boulder a little higher, otherwise its gonna be a little tough for taller people to not bump the knees all the time and would also make the move a little cooler, like getting the hanging from a cliff feeling a little more :D But nonetheless a super awsome rebuild of the move and boulder in general, reminds me of the Alex Honold Boulder Problem Boulder :D
@sqealerr3 жыл бұрын

@KimAndrewsbykimbo3 жыл бұрын
That was huge fun! Can you expain to this non-climber why so many of these problems look like they should just be placed higher on the wall so you don't have to deal with the floor getting in the way? I always think cranking your legs up adds a complication you don't really need?
@n3v3r1s43 жыл бұрын
Well, I mean, climbing is a complication you don't really need. =P On a more serious note though, there's a couple of vaguely viable reasons I suppose, namely lower boulders are easier on the body (knees and otherwise) when you're falling off of them, having to deal with not touching the ground CAN add to the difficulty like you've observed (which can be the added difficulty the routesetter wants), but I suspect that in this specific case they might've just set it at that height because he wanted the right wall angles for specific moves.
@fazebooquifius31863 жыл бұрын
I think it's really just a matter of what walls are available to them.
