Another great video. Well, they all are really. But loved the insight into just how tech our wonderful sport truly is. From wind tunnel testing to aero bars, deep section, or full disc wheels. For those of us old enough to have watched the 1989 tour de France when Greg Lemond chose one disc on the rear, but Lauron Fignon err had both front and back disc which gave Lemond the tour, to now carbon-plated run shoes, err of which I am now getting into as it makes an old man a bit quicker! Utterly mind-bending how much just a centimeter or 2 can make to watts, power, and position. Great video. Stay safe love you guys, see you next week.

I don’t know Paula but she is fantastic athlete it looks like she is that kind of person that would tell you how it is regarding the situation, unfortunately she put in the position where she’s thankful for sponsorship however they cannot offer a good positioning due to design of tribar angulation and its limitations. I think couple aftermarket parts will set you up just right with a little bit of angulation. But what the hell do I know. Good work Paula and Eric
@ThatTriathlonLife3 жыл бұрын
No you’re not far off. Normally this wouldn’t be so much of an issue, but many aero bars are completely out of stock due to covid, so it’s really hard to find a good solution right now. Custom is the next step though I think.

12'27 all the question is here: aerodyamic/metabolic combo.What will be the best for one people will certainly not be the best for an other people.Cause there is science and there is the person.The extended bars are,to my mind,a good exemple.Today,aerodynamic seems to say it is better to have the extended bars havind an up direction .But personnally,i prefer them horizontal.Certainly a little bit less aerodynamic but more confortable and bearable (at level of shoulders for instance).What is interesting is that for a pro (like paula),the question is to adapte a new position (subtil changes but confusing for a person so used to a certain position).What is interesting with the specialist we see here is that they consider this aero/meatabolic to help to take a decision and they do not hesitate to say:numbers say that but take time cause your sensation is primordial too.Anyway,very exciting for an athlete like paula cause it opens new perspectives to gain those precious watts (so seconds) wanted by competitors...I like when technic let a place to human feeling..

ok my worthless age grouper opinion. First, Paula is a bad ass professional female athlete and has a wonderful honest personality. She goes mostly on feel, and that is what I love about her. I could tell watching this video, that she really wasn't digging it. I know she is a Professional and watts do matter, but in the end way too many variables and metrics focus on and control. Paula do what you do best !! Happy Easter and kick some butt this year and beyond. E

Its weird seeing the athletes change bikes. Wasn't Paula trek before? Its definitely nice if they both get the same sponsor because it gets annoyingly frustrating working around what you can and cant do because of different sponsors.
@ThatTriathlonLife3 жыл бұрын
She was with Trek, but we’re very glad to have that in the past. The reason this was such a process was because the original fitter (for the shiv) forgot to write down measurements for the speed concept so the position could be matched. Super frustrating, but I think we’re good now
@frwebster68303 жыл бұрын

Interesting Paula (and so many others) are not willing to try shorter cranks for a better aero fit. So many top pro men have gone shorter cranks, even Lionel rides 165mm. I think woman would have the biggest benefit by dropping crank length in general being a little shorter than men on average.
@ThatTriathlonLife3 жыл бұрын
I think* the counter argument is that it’s hard to prove that anyone has gotten faster going to shorter cranks. Even though it makes sense logically. I’m planning to experiment with it this month, but it’s a hard thing to quantify
@travismcgarry3 жыл бұрын
@@ThatTriathlonLife that’s awesome, looking forward to hearing how it works out for you. From what I understand going shorter cranks is more about improving your aero position.... it also opens up the hip so often a better aero position may be achieved without sacrificing power. I just also find it hard to believe that guys that are 6’3 have a 2.5mm crank length difference to guys that are 5’8... either tall guys are getting “short end of the stick” or the short guys are?
@aquicktake3 жыл бұрын
I don't think those bars are working at all -- looks very uncomfortable throughout the wrist and not enough vertical extension at the end. At 11:32 you can literally see her index finger hanging over the bar and nothing for her thumbs at all. She needs at least another 5-10cm on the upswing of those bars. I'm betting anything more than about in hour in that position and her arms/wrists are going to be killing her/numb.
@ThatTriathlonLife3 жыл бұрын
She actually prefers the ski tip, but you’re right. She wants them longer. They didn’t have an option with a longer ski tip available, so these were a bit of a stand-in until a custom set (or just a longer option) can be found. Everything is months out with covid and whatnot.

Great bike , rides smooth kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L I added a bigger spring loaded seat to it . Takes a bit of adjusting cables to get brakes and shifting to perfect . I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing

A couple of things: the tunnel was freezing cold so she was pretty tense. Might sound dumb, but true. Mainly the lack of FULL adjustability (rocker) of the shiv front end is frustrating. Normally wouldn’t be a huge issue, but covid has the options for extensions very limited at the moment.
