Believe it or not, this movie was actually written for Sylvester Stallone. But he continued to rewrite the plot in order to make it more dark until the director just moved on to Eddie. Stallone continued with his version of the film which ultimately ended up being... the poster hanging right behind you guys! COBRA!!! True story

Eddie Murphy is SO comfortable in this role. Its really hard to imagine he was like 22 or 23 when this was filmed. The same director (Martin Brest) also directed Midnight Run, starring Robert Deniro, Charles Grodin & John Ashton (Taggart in Bev Hills Cop). Its got a very similar humor/drama balance, and is a ton of fun. I highly recommend checking it out. 😀

Axel Foley's boss, Inspector Todd, was played by Inspector Gilbert Hill of the Detroit police department - the real deal. Hill was later a city councilman and ran for mayor. The casting people discovered him when they were scouting. (He wanted everyone to know that in real life, he didn't yell at his subordinates and seldom swore.)

The Harold Faltermeyer synth parts in this are timeless classics of the 80’s. He also composed the Top Gun Anthem which was played by Billy Idol’s guitarist, Steve Stevens, for Top Gun. Both are some of the first parts I memorized on keys and guitar, can still play them. Add in the Pointer Sisters and Glenn Frey songs and you get one banger of a soundtrack. It’s SO 1984. Bronson Pinchot, that plays Serge in the art gallery, went on to play many, many parts in others. Perfect Strangers, the TV show, being one of his early hits but I think Langoliers is his best. That’s one not many react to, Langoliers and even OG The Stand.

A really fun reaction video I like the vibe you bot exude during the movie. It was even more special when I noticed that you had a Sylvester Stallone poster in the background from the movie Cobra!! What makes that great is Stallone was offered the Axe Foley role before Eddie Murphy. Sly turned it down and decided to rewrite the script, which became the movie Cobra.

First of all, you two are the cutest couple on the planet. :) Loved your reaction. This was such a great movie. Good cast, great classic 80's soundtrack. When I was in Germany years ago in college, I actually saw this in the theater, dubbed in German. If you think Eddie Murphy talks fast in English...LOL. It was a good thing I'd seen te movie already,I just wanted to try out watching a movie while I was there. The second movie was pretty good for a sequel, good enough for me to recommend, but I never saw the third. PS - Sorry about your Cowboys; not a football fan, but as a baseball fan, I definitely understand your pain.
@SilentBob7319 ай бұрын
3:54 Aside from this being one of the greatest Action/Comedies of all-time, the soundtrack is pure 80's Gold, particularly Axel F by Harold Faltemeyer (which was my favourite song for about a year back in junior high, and a tune with which I shall never grow weary). Cheers and Happy Weekend Y'all. 🥃☮❤

When I saw the poster behind you two, I laughed. Cobra is based on Beverly Hills Cop. Sylvester Stallone was offered Beverly Hills Cop. He wanted more action and less comedy, so he rewrote the script. The producers said no, auditioned several other actors, and settled on Eddie Murphy. Sylvester Stallone took his script and made Cobra.

Apparently the director flipped a coin to decide whether to do this movie. Upon the popularity of it he framed and hung that quarter in his office. Eddie Murphy backed out of “Ghostbusters” to do this movie. 13:32 this is Damon Wayans first film. Originally they were going to have Axel sneak into the kitchen and grab a potato to stuff in the tailpipe but due to budget and scheduling they couldn’t do it so they used what was on hand (a banana). It was Murphy’s idea to use Wayans for the role which he is credited as “banana man”. 18:46 Eddie Murphy improvised the supercop routine. Ashton & Reinhold (Taggart & Rosewood) was trying hard not to laugh and wreck the scene. Ashton had his hand on his face trying to hide the laughter and Reinhold was pinching his thigh trying to keep from laughing. The filming of the scene was so taxing that Murphy was getting tired but declined coffee cause he didn’t want to take drugs of any kind. He finally gave in and took a few sips of coffee which made him very energized. Next thing you know the “Supercops” routine was born. 22:12 the rolled up paper in his hand is the script. He was given changes to the script just before shooting. 28:12 this scene was funny how it showed Billy’s “quirkiness” which they add to in the future ones. It’ll be interesting to see what they do in the fourth one that’s supposed to come out this year. 30:43 that’s the director behind the counter
