Eric, Just keep up the wonderful videos and don`t worry about KZbin. I am waiting for your review of your first MTH European steam locomotive whitch you delightful preluded a couple of weeks ago. That locomotive was a beauty also.

Very nice, five star engine!! The unpainted version gives you a better sense of detailing too. Not too bad on the eyes!! Thank you again Eric!!

Awesome review as always Eric! I like the unpainted version a lot and your right, the details really show up well on this model! Keep up the great work!
@sleeves_rail_archives10 жыл бұрын
Good job on the review Eric, but you said in the video that the EM-1 was a new product for Lionel. That's incorrect because Lionel did make the EM-1 before way back in 2000 with TMCC in it. I just wanted to point that out but other then that, great job!!

Eric, I love your videos. I look forward to everyone like a new episode to my favorite show. Keep it up. Great engine, I agree I love that unpainted version. It just really pops! Chuck

Here ya go: Chessie System, Inc. was a holding company that owned the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O), the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O), the Western Maryland Railway (WM), and several smaller carriers. It was incorporated in Virginia on February 26, 1973, and it acquired the C&O (which controlled the other companies) on June 15. On November 1, 1980, Chessie System merged with Seaboard Coast Line Industries to form CSX Corporation.

I love this loco, but that whistle does not match the engine at all. I feel the TMCC EM-1 had better whistle and bell sounds
@railfanjackson45315 жыл бұрын
Actually, it does. That’s not my opinion. It’s factual. The real EM-1 had a whistle similar to the N&W or C&O hooter, like on the Class A or the Allegheny.
@papamemesauce823 жыл бұрын
@@railfanjackson4531 the pitch of the TMCC EM-1 is closer to that of a Nathan hooter, so basically imagine a C&O hooter at that pitch

Great review Eric!!!! The EM-1 sure is a beauty in both the painted and unpainted versions! Love all the detail, great sounds and smoke action on that bad boy! Thanks for the AWESOME vid bro, its been 2 weeks since your last vid so I was experiencing some withdrawals LOL!!! Thanks again! Have a great one! Talk to you soon!
@Ericstrains12 жыл бұрын
The smoke fan unit does make a little noise, but it's not that big of a deal. The only reason it's so noticeable on the video is because the engine rode right next to the mic on the camera.
@Ericstrains12 жыл бұрын
Good to know.
@Ericstrains12 жыл бұрын
No, it's not vision line. The EM-1 is in the 2012 vol. 1 catalog. The unpainted version seen in this video is uncataloged. It was a special "pilot" version that made available to dealers but was no cataloged.

That's a cool engine Eric! Great review. That thing can sure pull a load. pulls a draw bar of 26% of it's own weight which isn't bad, would be better if the tender weight wasn't included. My Lionel Hudson pulls about 42% of it's own weight including the tender but it's tender is very light. My SD90 can't even pull that much of it's own weight. Have a good one.

i glad that you did an unpainted version because you can see how little plastic it is and much metal is on it as well as, all the detail and spatially applied details. are the unpainted version less than the painted version and how much are they?
@steamtrainfan95424 жыл бұрын
I would get an unpainted one, then get Baltimore and Ohio painted in yellow on the tender, a yellow number painted under the window, a B&O logo painted where it goes on the front, and numbers on the number boards, so then it would be like a silver B&O EM-1.

Hey Eric, At time 13:28 where the EM1 is exiting your tunnel, what is the radius of the middle track that the EM-1 is running on, is that O-72? In January 2021, I purchased a new (2014) Great Northern Legacy EM-1 from Trainz.com. This is my first O Scale / O Gauge locomotive. Planned layout in basement train room has mainline curves of O-72 inner and O-81 outer tracks. Layout is a simple around the room shelf layout focused on mainline running set in the late 1940's with likely era cheating in the future :). Primary road modeled is Great Northern (I am from Minnesota now living in Georgia with a 4 year layover in California in between lol). I am curious at how the boiler overhang will look on O-72 curves even though I am planning on this loco running mostly on my O-81 curves. P.S. thank you for all your videos as I have found them to be a treasure trove of information for someone new to O Scale & O Gauge.

All I can say is wow! Do you have to ask for the unpainted or what? Do they make all engines in unpainted versions? Thanks for doing the curves! Man that baby swings! I guess the crew talk never refers to the roadname or number.

Eric, Lionel did make the EM-1 about 10 years ago. Check Toytrains1 on youtube and he has pictures of it. I know they are on his website.
@Subparanon12 жыл бұрын
Ok maybe I don't get it. Is this something you're supposed to paint yourself? With some of the road numbers and builders plates not being installed it would seem so EXCEPT that all the separately applied pipes, grab irons, etc would make it difficult at best to paint.

EM-1 Yellowstone's were never used by DM&IR. The Yellowstones of DM&IR were larger and much more powerful. Lionel should not offer that road name with this beautiful locomotive.

Morbid Mansion back when the B&O was scrapping all their steam engines. and they even stripped all of their EM-1's however one of them almost made it into preservation. a post on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad fan page on Facebook back in 2015 there was some pictures of a museum booklet from the late 1950s and early 1960s that highlighted a future exhibit being an EM-1. and three of those pictures show engine number 659 in dead storage awaiting the and the 6:59 chance for the B&O Museum to purchase. but tragically there was possibly a mix-up in Communications regarding the engines status and the 659 did not live to see preservation.
