Amazing how you still come up with new convenience food places in Japan. In the US, I have not seen any vending machine for food in years. But they are being introduced in Germany for pizza and other items.

Alot of farmers and home gardeners that sell produce still do this here in my area in west Michigan! Alot of them don't have set prices either and will just have a sign saying "pay what you can" my parents are friends with someone who has one and she said that if someone doesn't pay then she assumes they just needed it bad enough and she's not upset about it! Alot of people do this with eggs too, they have a cooler or a mini fridge and a money lock box next to it! I definitely don't think it word work in like cities tho. But when it's a small town and mostly in the country side it works great!
