This is a topic I’ve been pondering for quite some time. Thank you Eric for making a video on it. And please expand this topic soon with speed ramping! That’s such a great effect for action sequences. Favorite frame rate: right now it’s 24fps. Still need to play with all the others. There’s a handful of other professionals out there that use 60fps just in case they want to slow a clip down. There stuff still looks good, how do they keep it looking like 24fps w/out dropping frames?

You’re welcome! If you drop 60fps footage in a 24fps timeline you will have irregular motion because the 60fps footage has 2.5x the frames and you can’t cut a frame in half. It’s pretty subtle though, so it takes a somewhat keen eye to notice that. The bigger issue is shutter speed. If you shoot 60fps footage at 1/120 like you should, when you play it back at 24fps the shutter speed doesn’t change, so you get that high shutter speed effect. Yes, some people do it, and it can be used stylistically on some sequences, but it kills the “cinematic” look.

Nice explanation :) I've never actually tried shooting in 30 fps and slowing it to 24, gotta give it a try :)
