WARNING: the dot projector is VERY sensitive. I think my mistake in this was using isopropyl alcohol to clean the outer edge and I ruined the dot projector.

He just removed the old adhesive for the screen and applied a new adhesive (gasket). They make them pre-cut so it covers all corners of your new screen, costs like $2-$3. The blue is just plastic film that helps you align it properly

Also check to make sure Face ID works before sealing phone shut with the new adhesive. I had a iPhone XS max come back from apple with no Face ID functionality after a screen replacement (oled panel issue caused the repair)

When the dot projector in the front camera module got some dust, the face ID will be unavailable. Try cleaning it with some alcohol and the face ID function will recover.

I do not know if my xs max screen need replacement or not but i have problem in touching and when i try to pull the icon among the screen, it would not move to part of the left side of the screen easily and have to keeep trying and same if i want to move something from left to right.. also typing letter e d x c is a problem and not typing easily! What do you think should i replace it?

@EricWitrigs So I did manage to switch the screen and it works when turned on, and it charges fine. However, when the case is closed it doesn't charge and overheats, the battery also drains faster. Would appreciate any suggestions.

after taking my iPhone XS Max to get the screen replaced I got it back and the screen feels kinda rough and my 3D Touch doesn't work. The phone acts like a Haptic Touch like the new iPhone 11 where u just hold down a few seconds and it activates. I noticed it right away when I went to play pubs and the 3d touch to shoot wasn't working...

Only issue with is there was no step to reprogram the new panel since this is a swap over. The new panel would be be registered with the iphone and the true tone option will be disabled.

The iCloud locks are hard to remove without the proper knowledge. You could swap out the motherboard on the iPhone XS Max, but it is not the easiest task to complete. WitRigs has a teardown video at kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGnJhamIr65_gNk. I would first check with the owner of the device and see if they can remove the iCloud lock. If that fails to work, I would check out Repair Tech Kings at www.repairtechkings.com. As long as the device has not been marked as lost or stolen on Find My iPhone, they can remove iCloud locks without needing to do any hardware replacements on the device.

Sergio Luna Cruz I had never had anything done to it. One day I put it in some water then the Face ID died. Screen then gradually started dying. Now apple found water damage and won’t replace the screen. After I told them I was literally able to back it up to my computer. They then proceeded to tell me I needed a new logic board and they would just give me a new phone for $749

Once again where was the footage over the programming of the former display over to the new display? Why is this step continuously left out of most people‘s videos! In order for true tone 3D Touch and all of the features that you come to expect to work on the new display the oldest play has to be red and then copied over to the new display for those features to work! Why is this step left out over and over again? Not only that there was no specification of whether or not this display was LCD or OLED or even which variant of LCD or whether or not it was soft or lead hard or lead or OEM refurbished! So many important things were left out of this video!
