Very cool. Kevin O’Leary said YEARS AGO that people should pay their houses off. I was debating it but it was a no-brainer, so I DID 😅 less than a year later the pandemic hit and a lot of people I know had to sell their houses because jobs were scarce. Best advice I’ve ever taken. Thanks Kevin! And thanks Erika for I having this episode!!

This guy literally said that poor people can aspire to rich people and that's "fantastic". "The interviewer cites Oxfam's statistic that the world's 85 richest individuals own the same wealth as the three and a half billion poorest, leading to O'Leary's response that left both the interviewer and viewers taken aback. "It's fantastic," he says, "And this is a great thing because it inspires everybody. Gets the motivation to look up to the %1 and say ‘I want to become one of those people,' I'm going to fight hard to get up to the top." "This is fantastic news and of course, I applaud it." Kevin O'Leary receives a surprised look from the interviewer, causing him to ask, "What's wrong with that?" With a puzzled expression, she asks, "Really?" He replies confidently, "Yes, really." Trying to understand his point, the interviewer asks, "So, are you saying that someone living on a dollar a day in Africa wakes up every morning and thinks, 'I'm going to be Bill Gates'?" To which Kevin O'Leary replied, "That's the kind of motivation everyone needs.""

Even though he says it is a good thing, he does not enjoy the fact that people are suffering for the sake of seeing them suffering. If you add "the dead bird under the tree-story", "people need to set up their own business to obtain personal freedom", "Salary is the drug that prevents you from getting rich", it makes more sense. People who suffer are more likely to be driven to make a change to get out of suffering, people who get by and are in their comfort zone will never take risks.

You have a remarkable ability to stay focused on your goals and tune out the noise, which is truly admirable. It's clear that your success is driven by your unwavering commitment. As someone who values time as the most precious asset, how do you strike a balance between your rigorous work routine and enjoying personal moments or hobbies like collecting watches?

I agree! For me being realistic about what you can accomplish in a day. Overloading your schedule can lead to burnout and hinder your ability to enjoy personal moments. Remember that achieving a work-life balance is a personal journey, and what works for one person may not work for another. It's important to continually assess and adjust your approach based on your evolving priorities and circumstances.

I agree..however if it weren't for "spenders" there wouldn't be an economy. For instance, I love cafes..local or chain. Now I know I can make coffee at home. For the price of a cup..I can purchase a small can. But , I love the experience having it made /served. I like sitting in the establishment. Now, the cafe employs people. They pay taxes. The product/ supply they sell is purchased from a manufacturer.. a factory..to which it is grown..harvested..ect.. In both cases in between the product needs delivery. To which that employs people. The building itself where the cafe is in..has to be built. The indoor arranged and decorated.. All employing tax paying tradesmen. There are inspectors, lawyers, bankers investors. Advertising. My point..I could go on and on. That need..that sandwich & coffee creates an opportunity. How many entrepreneurs had started this way. I'm not rich..but I believe in common sense.

Right but since we all have an ability to get things done with some diplomacy, the intentional reduction in your opportunities that arise from being insensitive.... that's *_SELF-DESTRUCTIVE_* "People dislike the way I am abrupt/insensitive/uncaring. I have two choices. 1) "I can get them on my side" 2) "I can say 'I don't care if you're on my side" It's SELF-DESTRUCTIVE to PURPOSELY IGNORE opportunity to get people on your side. There's no law against eliminating opportunity. There's no law against saying 'I don't care if my staff are on my side' But most of us know what happens: 1) it stokes resentment in staff and our direct reports 2) it makes some staff CONSCIOUSLY UNDERMINE the business There is no positive outcome from riding roughshod over people and refusing to get them on the same team. And in most corporations, you get FIRED if you behave like that. And if the boss does it, the best staff members leave. We've all seen that in our careers. .

I told a boss once that I have rather high standards for my managers... when I change jobs I consider it to be me who fires the management.
