true, she lip syncs alot of the other parts that arent whistles but whistles are so easy for her tho

Great analysis as always. She does most of her whistles live
@outsideskippy1997 Жыл бұрын
On whether Mariah sings whistles live, she definitely has. Almost all of her whistles 1990-1996 were live. Afterwards she starting lipping then because as you mentioned they are inconsistent. Although I would argue that in many cases her belting range is as inconsistent on her tours. 1998-present she lips difficult whistles like in Emotions, but still likes to occasionally throw in live whistles. This performance in particular was weird because it was hard to tell what was lipped, live, or dubbed. Certainly they edited some things after it was recorded. Perhaps some other lambs want to add their input regarding this performance. Love your videos btw

She was whistling a LOT (and I mean it) in charmbracelet era so I think some of them could’ve been live, but it’s all speculation.

From what I can tell with anything post-prime or after the 90s, Mariah definitely sings whistles live MOST of the time, it’s just because they can be inconsistent that during televised performances like this one she will lip the whistles (and sometimes high belts) or sing them live but dub the performance afterwards because it has to sound as professional as possible for tv.
@ilovetati91 Жыл бұрын
1998 Emotions whistles were live except one. Charmbracelet and Emancipation tours had tons of live whistles. She actually continues to this day to do more live whistles than belts - she has several in her 2022 Xmas shows

I think after 98 is when she starts to lip harder vocals overall, not just whistles, but Charmbracelet and The Adventures of Mimi were the tours she was whistling the most, most of them live, she really delivered. I would even say she started to whistle more during these tours to compensate for the lack of consistence of her belting range (in comparison to before).

During this era many of her whistles were live…. It’s just that during charm era sooo many performances were dubbed so its hard to tell😭
@xejelah5 ай бұрын
Not dubbed. Lipsynced - usually just bits and pieces, but there were a few full on performances. What's not fair is to call an entire performance lipsynced or even dubbed when only a couple small sections were and the rest were live. It doesn't acknowledge all the live parts and work she did. Mariah was the last diva left standing when everything switched from analog to digital. Media shot through the roof. Instead of 50 channels there were thousands. Instead of 30 magazines there were hundreds. Social media started happening. The amount of interviews and live performances that had to be done to keep the same amount of eyeballs was crazy. That meant more work and less vocal rest. That problem only continued as the new millennium rolled on.

I adore Mariah, been a loyal fan since the beginning. But I gotta say, I never cared for this song... massive snooze fest for me, personally. Her worst lead single, imo 😕 Loved the more upbeat numbers on Charmbracelet though (You had your chance, Irresistible, Lullaby, You got me)
