Ariana Grande's "Pov" [LIVE Vevo] - SINGER REACTS

This is my reaction, analysis and breakdown of Ariana Grande’s POV live on Vevo. This great song is the last on Ariana’s Positions album. I’m loving the bright sound we’re getting, the beautiful clear mixes, and the little runs mixed into the melody. I believe this is the only ballad on the album, such a pretty melody arranged beautifully with backgrounds also sung by Ariana Grande. LOVE the soft delicate tone we hear throughout, with moments of very forward mixes, but supported, warm, and beautiful.
I am a jazz/R&B vocalist, baritone saxophone player, music educator, and vocal coach local to New Orleans. I have two degrees in jazz/music education and work professionally playing music. I love the attention to detail you talk about not just in the vocals but the song production too. I think you would really enjoy "Ghostin" by Ariana. It's very ethereal and probably has the best vocal production of all her tracks, the last minute of the song is literally just hundreds of stacked vocals and violins.

Hi Erika. Wow! Thank you for reacting to this song, it is also one of my favorite performances. Ariana Grande is one of my favorite singers, and it is great you go back to her once in a while. She has a very extensive musical library, has won many accolades in the industry, well respected by a lot of other famous singers and fans, all due to her iconic vocal talent. All at a young age. It is no wonder she is considered one of the best singers for the last few years. As usual, your breakdown of her performance gave me more insight into Ariana's talent. When I was a newbie Ariana stan, I thought she doesn't know how to vibrato because I haven't heard her use a vibrato, apparently she vibrato so fast that you couldn't even hear it unless you're a vocal professional.

So interesting you couldn’t hear it!!!! She really gives us a wide variety of vibrato and will sometimes slow it down and make it more wide. I hope as your ear develops you are able to notice it :)

I know it's pop styling, but she annoys me with all of the slurring and eliding. She has a gorgeous voice and is uber talented, but I wish there was more enunciation. That said, you break it down well. Still going to push for some Gabriel Henrique or Dimash Kudaibergen, or do you not analyze male vocalists?

That’s valid, there are times when I wish she’d enunciate more too. I should do a male vocalist!!! I’ve been meaning to sit down and listen to those two but I’ve been super busy, I’ll check them out and see

She doesn’t slur her words a lot now a days and like you said it’s a pop style because outside of that she doesn’t do that and even here she was enunciating her words imo lol but I get your point though lol

I completely agree with you. The lack of enunciation alone just ruins it for me. Great singer though.

I feel like I hear many singers do the same. Also when singing higher it is hard to pronounce all the words without messing up the melody so she purposefully pronounces them differently or cuts it off.
