Great Review Eric. Interesting and informative, too. The price in Germany is 62 for the Corryvreckan and 56 for the Uigedail. That's a fair price. But my favorite is the Ardbeg 10. Cheers Mate.

Ardbeg’s core range (10, Oogy, and Cory) is so great for the price. They are so great I don’t think I’ll every buy their special editions that cost 3x more.

Another good review. I’m probably in the camp that prefers Uigeadail, especially when price is taken into consideration since this runs around $100 in my area of the U.S.

Hi Eric I have been watching your videos and I believe your reviews on ardbeg are genuine and I for one ❤ love 💘 ardbegs reviews are spot on, and I like 👍 all the ardbegs core range, I just recently drank the ardbeg 5 year old and some would say why bother with the 5 year old when you can taste the 10 year old, well the 5 year old is very different from the 10 year old, I love 💘 the 5 year old, it has roasted peanut on the palate and a little sherry, it is stupendous whiskey to say the least. It stands alone from the other expressions of ardbeg, I simply love 💘 this whiskey, apart from others of ardbeg !!!!

Awesome and impressive review! Big fan of Corryvreckan but friends around just dont get it and suggest me to go Uigeadail instead. Yea Uigeadail is smooth and relatively sweet and hence a nice bottle for sharing but the rich layers of Corryvreckan never get me bored no matter I'm enjoying it alone or with my friends. The comparison you made in this video is so precise. Also appreciate you commenting on the price range one should go for, especially for the limited edition that you've done in other video, bcuz nowadays the whisky price can go quite different. And sometimes I make irrational decisions with my peated mind.

Thank you Erik for another great review. I love both but have to give my first choice to Corryvreckan and thats why I just purchased two more bottles @ $70 each . I do also love Uigedail and its a bit cheaper. Hope both stay at this price point. Both delicious!

I poured a 10, Corry and Ugie last night... It's hard to pick a favorite. I love them all, especially the 10 for the price point! I would probably pour the Ugie if I was trying to impress someone, the Corry is for the hardcore.

Uige tasted fantastic after a sip of Octomore 9.2 . That's when I first understood the complexity of it. I have had Laphroaig QC years before but am just picking up this wonderful hobby. Trying to learn the differant tastes. It was nice to pick up vanilla when snifing on an empty Uige. Cheers to all you .

@@jusakaju Laphroaig qc is amazing for its price. And octomore indeed helps to understand smoke, and find other things hidden behind the smoke. I like how sweet and bright Ardbeg 10 actually is. But hidden behind that dark meat smoke

@@lll-k4l2k thanks for your oppinion and am so glad you wrote. I just placed an order on ebay for a bottle of Ardbeg Ten that comes in a case in the shape of the Ardbeg warehouse. It's coming from Italy to Finland. I'm pleased to give them my business in they're hour of need. I'm so looking forward to tasting the Ten. My shoping list for life after covid is Corry, Uige and the Q Cask. I have to get the Q just to compare it to Ardbeg as I have such good memories of the Q cask. Also gotta get a bottle of Lagavullin 16 as it seems to be a favorite for many ppl. I have to say I am so enjoying this whisky community as well. Ppl are so nice in they're comments that it really warms an old mans heart. Be safe all.

@@jusakaju Yes awesome choice! I just tasted the Laphroaig qc, and compared it to the Ardbeg 10. They are both fantastic in their own way. I recommend Lagavulin 16 myself. It's a really complex, full bodied and well rested smoky whisky. With some dark fruit notes, and I always get peppermint at the end of the palate. Great seeing others enjoy the community of whisky, like myself Stay safe Friend!

Found some Corry from 2013 today at a dumpy corner market in the Valley. i think i'm going back tomorrow to buy the other 2 that are left. I also got a Nadurra 16 from 2013 when they were still good. they had a couple different Talisker's but I need to do some code homework on how old they are but they are probably at least as old. I also got Baker's 107 from 2014 from there.

Helpful for me in clarifying my thoughts on the Uigeadail, which I seem to instinctively prefer, v. Corryvreckan debate/choice. Corryvreckan seems a bit “showboaty” to me, but, that said, I’m very much enjoying it tonight.

I love the sherry aspect of the Uigeadail and still need to pick up the Corry. There's a few older videos on youtube that talk about the French oak influence in the Corryvrecken with Mickey Heads and Hamish Torrie. A recent one with Brendan McCarron says that the original recipe was to use 100% new French oak barriques but they settled with 30% fully matured in new French oak barriques and 70% ex-bourbon. Compass Box likes to use French oak too. It brings that spice. Cheers Erik!
@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies4 жыл бұрын
Ok, but if you watched my video one of the points I made is saying "French oak" doesn't mean anything as there are a number of different species of oak grown in France, including Quercus Petraea which Ardbeg also used in Kelpie but from Russia. Ironoot Republic Distillery uses Quercus Petraea from France in one of their bourbons.
