I really liked Autumn Bleeds into Winter, too. I especially enjoyed the ending. Monday's Not Coming was absolutely gutwrenching.

I think I Who Have Never Known Men is similar to Moon of the Crusted Snow in that what happened (why they're there in the bunker/the apocalypse that is happening) isn't the point but rather how people respond to it. I struggle because sometimes I like these types of novels and sometimes I don't but have never been able to tell what does it for me.

Oh yeah definitely! I think my issue is moon of the crusted snow actually gave me something substantial and I who have never known men didn’t. At least in moon of the crusted snow there was an actual conflict with a resolution (to an extent), but then in the other it’s just more of an “it is what it is” type of deal. I wasn’t left with as many questions either. Personally, I don’t care about either apocalypse, but we get to see what is actually happening in moon of the crusted snow with the people in a more obvious manner. That’s pretty much the best way I think I can explain it! Haha it’s definitely hard to pinpoint why one worked better than the other.

That’s what I loved about Leave the World Behind, because it’s so vague (the book), and you never really know what’s going on, but it’s so interesting going through that confusing time with the characters and seeing how they cope with it. Also Cabin at the End of the World. I love vague apocalyptic stories lol. I need more.

@Kevlandia start with the book I'd say, I loved the slow pace and building dread. The film was good too though! They added extra stuff and changed some characters and made it less mysterious overall, but I really loved the ending.
