Dude! Okay sentimental 43 year old here - I actually cried happy tears on this video. Your voice, your ease - your true self shining through! You seem so much more confident! Loving it!!!!!! I know it’s not an easy journey but seriously - look at you!!!!!!!

Dude! Your comments about saving scrap wood justifies my borderline hoarding tendencies! My family always says “Why are you keeping that? You’re never going to use it!” And then I always find a use for it…eventually…maybe years later.

I've found that barely taking care of succulents is actually the best way to keep them alive. In the past, when I cared " too" much through watering too often, I was killing the poor plants.

Oh, Ollie. I so very much enjoy your videos. Cannot wait to see what the new enclosure set up will be. If Lotus oooonly knew how incredibly lucky he is and how chic his new living quarters are going to be. He'll be an awesomely spoiled little fur ball

I'm new here & only have been watching these build videos so far (I already subbed, don't worry!). The first video I saw was the cleaning one most recently posted, so when I watched the first video in this series I was like, where is the guy from the other video??? 😅 Oh I see he was HIDING, here he is finally 😂 Anyway I'm loving these videos so much! I've never had hamsters, only rats, but you better believe someday when I have them again I'm gonna use some of these DIY ideas. Keep up the amazing work, I love your energy sir!!

Great work as always! Points: Great care for animals; extremly relatable problems; great problem solving skills; on point humor; great astehic; awesome video flow. Side note about humor: I don't know, if not liking yourself is just a bit, but in case it's not: You can love yourself while being a flurry, flashing shit show. I do love myself, too. Everybody deserves love. We're not monsters. We're just different. And you help me a lot just by existing.

I love the cage and the cage lid looks so much better now, looks so great! If I ever build a hamster cage, it would be this one. Maybe you can share the measurements at some points?

awesome!! will be staying tuned in for the finished product! also, LED strips are notorious for falling down all the time, hopefully that doesnt happen with them in the cage, a little worried about that 😭
@SomethingAnimal3 ай бұрын
Oh I didn't know that was a common issue! I must have been lucky with mine the ones in my Syrian enclosure have been solid for 2 years. I did add some extra glue to the ones in this cage though since I had to move them from their old location and they weren't as sticky as when they were new. Hopefully they stay put!

I had to laugh really hard at your plant story. Sums up my plants - though "cat bite proof" is a necessity here. My cats have killed cacti...
@SomethingAnimal3 ай бұрын
Omg cacti?! Cats are so weird sometimes 😭 We can't keep anything with a 'grassy' texture without it getting chomped on, I used to have a beautiful big parlour palm years ago until one night when it became Bertie's dinner 😂

The lid looks really nice! I have always wondered with using LEDs in rodent enclosures though - do they not see the lights flashing on and off as they can see "quicker" than us?
@SomethingAnimal3 ай бұрын
I've not been able to find any reliable answers to this, but from observation alone if they do see lights in a flickering effect it doesn't seem to bother them. Most homes these days use LED light bulbs but there hasn't been a notable shift in the behaviours of domestic hamsters or other animals since incandescent, CFL and halogen bulbs have become less common. Hamsters also don't have the best eyesight anyway and rely mostly on their senses of smell and hearing to navigate so that could contribute to them not seeming bothered. If you do use LED strips in an enclosure I recommend using one with a dimming option so the light isn't overpowering and making sure it's only used for short periods so it doesn't mess with their circadian rhythm. Using a red or orange setting is also easier on their eyes while still allowing you to see inside the enclosure :)

To be fair I only call 35 'not that hot' because most days are 38-40, without AC in the house I would simply pass away 😂 I'm also completely useless to the world the moment it drops below 20C 🥲

So would you say removing staples or making teeny tiny bricks from paper worse or both suck equally? 😂
@SomethingAnimal3 ай бұрын
Haha oh no that's a difficult choice... Painting bricks destroys my back, removing staples messes up my hands so I think they both suck equally 😂
