Erroneous Results!? Shocking SGC Submission Reveal 😱

Sometimes you just have to send them in. You never know what they give you. It’s worth the gamble.

As for the jeter. All of those cards have that line. They are not going to knock the grade for that.

I agree. Hard to find any Xfractor without lines. PSA would knock it down imo.

Ill take the hate for my post. SGC absolutely over grades modern and ultra modern. As you see and other KZbinrs have proven they over look surface issues on the fronts and backs of cards and send to SGC for exactly that reason and admit it. Ive noticed more and more over grades on vintage as well. This doesnt help the market either. I like SGC but this is becoming more alarming to me. There are lots of people that think PSA grades tough but then SGC overgrades and compounds what people think. PSA has been right on with my pregrades most of the time and my accuracy is very high.

On ultra modern, sgc grades very moderately. They are not hard at all. And they grade generously on vintage, on cards under $250. Anything over $250, they have their way with cards. I had a 1967 Topps Rocky Colavito, last card in the set. Sells for about 75-100 raw. I sent in to sgc and got a 3, got pissed, cracked in and set it to psa and got a 7. Worth $75 (MAYBE) IN SGC 3. Worth $400 in a psa 7. No noticeable problem. Untrained graders, it seems to me.

I felt you were overly critical of the flaws on some of the cards, the edges you mentioned didn’t seem that bad and the centering on the Dak didn’t seem that off. SGC is a fair grader. Great vid and I love that SGC takes into account eye appeal and doesn’t destroy the grade because of some nearly invisible to the naked eye flaw on the back where you need the card to be tilted at approximately 16.3 degrees with 75.5 to 78 lumens of off white unnatural overhead light and have the card held out at exactly 8 centimeters to see it. Same with refractor lines, if they’re not all that noticeable and don’t distract from the overall aesthetic of the card and how it presents, it shouldn’t knock it down to an automatic 8 grade. Honestly my only gripe with SGC is the case could be (left to right) a smidge less wide. If they took a centimeter off how wide the slab is, it would be damn near perfect. I personally like the SGC slabs the best & they are a very good company with turnaround time & customer service is great… but my only complaint about them is some cards I think will grade great get 9s & some I see flaws get 10s 🤷‍♂️

If it's for your PC, then it's fine, but if u don't go with PSA, the value drops significantly.

This video kind of pisses me off. I sent in my 3rd submission and I’m pretty good at predicting condition and what the grade should be give or take about .5 My last submission came back with 3 of 21 cards Gem mint 10 when I predicted 6-8 to come out Gem Mint two of the cards have zero issues but the centering is a hair off but within the 55/45 for Gemming. I use a scope for surface, corners and edges and I double checked through the holder once I got them in hand and can not decked a single flaw and received a 9.5 and a 9 on two cards that if I send to PSA will be 10’s. Then I see these cards with clear flaws gemming. Good for you I just don’t understand with my submission it’s as if they are intentionally looking for some way to downgrade my cards and it has me questioning submitting with them again.

I feel you man. It’s subjective and subject to human error. Some graders may take 30 seconds to analyze each card, while others take 5. Things can be missed and over grades can occur. I’ve had my fair share of robberies as well. I think eventually we will move to more automated grading. They also seem to grade certain cards and players significantly tougher. Like the Griffey Star Rookie for example. Thanks for watching the video, and taking the time to write a comment.

Really great video man I really appreciate how you showed your thoughts before revealing the grade. I definitely have some cards I've been frustrated with and not wanting to grade with PSA but now I feel confident sending them to SGC. Thanks!

It’s not always about which company is a “tougher” grader. It should be more about consistency. SGC is a little more “lenient” on surface scratches because it seems like if you can’t see it with the naked eye it shouldn’t be marked down. Also seems like if there are marks on the back of the cards it shouldn’t weigh as much as marks on front. I guarantee you if you crack and submit those cards to SGC you’ll get consistency in similar #s of gems, grade not fluctuating more than 0.5-1 points, etc. they state that eye appeal is important and that they don’t hold it against the card if it’s not obvious. Saying that… not sure why they gave your card such a good grade with the crescent mark in back. That should’ve been a whole grade down even tho it’s the back.

The graders grade the front first and that carries the the grade value about 90%. Unless some major issues are found on the back. The back gets a quick view since they already got it in their head the grade after grading the front. When AI starts grading things will change.

Yea SGC is solid. Grading is a little subjective and of course there is the human element to it.

Wow! The Dominguez because of the back in no way a 9.5. That looks like a fingernail mark and any card with a print line should never get a 10.
