the thing i appreciate about these films is the police aren't just bumbling morons, they pose a legit threat to him. He knows he can't go against the entry team, so he escapes, but then he's seen on the street and cop radios it in, so he has to evade that, then he realizes he can't stay hidden on the train long enough, so he has to evade again and distract them long enough to escape.

The best part of this chase is that even though he does everything almost perfectly he still injures his 🦶 on the way down onto the barge which shows that even though you can always do things really well you're never going to be able to do anything absolutely 100% perfectly. There's always going to be an error in there somewhere which is why I love the Bourne movies much more than the John Wick films (the first three Bourne movies anyway) because they show life as it really is and even though it features a world most of us know very little about everything in the film is so believable you just buy everything that happens in it even though it might feel out of the ordinary at times.🤔🧐😏

One of the rare examples where the film adaptation is far superior to the novel. The latter are written with a trowel, full of inconsistencies that are unacceptable for a spy novel, and the characters are caricatural and insubstantial. The films, on the other hand, are breathtaking, no doubt because the spy-film narrative is merely a pretext for an excellent, fast-paced action film, driven by the performance of Matt Damon, who brings a psychological complexity that doesn't exist in the novel's character.

Eh, to each his own. I think that book Bourne is also complex due to the trauma of losing his wife and kids in Vietnam adding on the 3 years he spent undercover as an assassin which then led to him losing his memory. Because of that, in the second book onwards, he suffers from split-personality disorder. There's David Webb which is the husband, father, and college professor to Marie and her kids. Then there's Jason Bourne. The chameleon. The perfect assassin. While I do like the films, they do miss the heart of this character dynamic and the fact that he can blend into anywhere.

As this scene is in Germany, the government would have to pay for the damages. I've kicked in my share of doors during my time as an EMT. People could bill the fire department for it, even though we did it to save their lives. The same is true for police as long as the owner of the building/ apartment didn't know about criminal activities.

And the most incredible thing was... the guy from beginning of this scene was right: police at the sidewalk did notice Jason there. Maybe the special ops aren't that special after all?

This ain't American cops though. Heard about real stories of the German cops, and this story did them a fair level of justice.

This represents two things, I think. Firstly that his character is evolving from assassin to normal person. Secondly that if you kill people the authorities will divert more resources to finding you than if you don't. Foreign govt to local police: "Find this guy!" Local police: "Why?" Foreign govt: "Um, because reasons." Guy kills people, including cops. Local police: "Find this guy!"

Respect btw for actually nailing German Pronounciation. I figure they used Germans for the Policemen. Things like "Da isser!" (3:08) don't come naturally to most Movies.
