I’ve heard great things about your paint shop. I’m so glad I found your new KZbin channel. Amazing work. How a vehicle body shop should be. Jobs done correctly or not at all. Hopefully get my car in to you one day. Keep up the great work and keep the videos coming. Thankyou

@Squintanditsmint2 жыл бұрын
I was looking for this question. What sort of primer is it? Epoxy or polyester? Looking forward to seeing this done, hope you can show the metalwork.

Great video as always Gavin, I think that Mk1 Escort is going to be with for a few weeks mate as it needs a lot of work but I have seen worse. I was going to ask you why you didn't dip the car rather than sand blasting but I would assume a chemical dip would get in everywhere and remove the paint from all the cavities that you cant get at to repaint, looking forward to the next one! 🙏👍
@Gavinpinkpaintshop2 жыл бұрын
Hi John yes that's pretty much about the truth of it when it comes to chemical dipping I'm not a lover of it I'd rather do it this way it's much safer but this is only my opinion
@JohnWD40TC022 жыл бұрын
Yeah totally agree Gavin but I know someone on here who has chemical dipped at least 3 Mk3 Cortina's and totally restored them himself and they still look like new several years later, not sure what he did to them but after they were dipped the bare shell was electro plated with something, all I know is that it was earthed and some sort of gun injected powder into every cavity don't know if it was baked afterwards but even then there is no guarantee that every part was coated 🤔👍

Looking at the mk1 escort is a massive eye opener for me it looked a fairly good shell before sand blast i dread to think how my one would look after sand blasting I’d say that one has survived well you would probably tell me to get another shell once my paint and years of bad repairs and body filler is ripped off 🤦♂️😂 but I duno mine could be a good shell the sand blaster don’t lie 😂
@Gavinpinkpaintshop2 жыл бұрын
Yes 100% you never quite sure what you're going to get back

Great video - some useful info for me - is there any chance we can get the details of the blasters? cheers , also approximate cost of blasting/sanding/ both?

Hi gavin, you no how you use a isolator epoxy to seal the filler work in would any epoxy wet on wet do the same thing? As I can only find novol who do this particular product.
@Gavinpinkpaintshop2 жыл бұрын
Yes mate I would imagine any WOW epoxy would do this job ok
@paulgr322 жыл бұрын
@@Gavinpinkpaintshop thanks for the reply. Always wondered as I no novol do the isolator epoxy and a epoxy.

BIG BIG BIG mistake sandblasting any car because you can never get all of the sand out of it, especially out of the seams, thre is no way of getting this out.Take it from me i have experience of this. It’s like parking a bare shell in the Sahara throughout a sand storm then painting it to seal the sand inside the seams. It won’t take very long at all to start rotting from the inside out. The only way to do this job properly is to have it dipped and then E coated afterwards, it’s very expensive but the only way to do it.
@Gavinpinkpaintshop2 жыл бұрын
We've been doing this for 20 years and never had a problem
@allothernamesbutthis2 жыл бұрын
retropower done good a video explaining why they media blast insted of dipping too.
