Hi Peter. I've just ordered the Star here in Spain. I'm 67 next month so you have got no worries young 'un 👍 I've had another Chinese fold up for over 2 years but it didn't come with a very powerful battery. So I'm upgrading and have to say your videos have influenced my decision. I'm not a skinny little thing but if this thing gets me to the beach and back via a few hills (the old one does) a few times more then I'll be happy. Nice reviews and thanks for doing the assembly vid which will help when it comes next week. Happy cycling!

Hi There, hey thanks for watching the video I’m really pleased my video helped. I am lucky to have all 3 of the new range to review at the minute and I have to say the Star is the one I want to ride the most. It’s so much fun it just puts a smile on my face. It’s so good in all environments with its fat tyres and power. You will love it, did you go for the Green one like mine as it’s an eye catcher it’s a beauty. Also did my discount code work to save you a £100? Always trying to save new owners a few quid!

Hi Peter, I really enjoyed your video. I'd like to buy this bike for my wife, she's 155 cm tall and I saw in the video that your seat is all the way down, and you look quite higher than her. Do you think she will be able to touch the ground with her own feet?

Hi Salv, I just checked the recommended heights and it’s from 155cm to 190cm so she should be fine. Also my seat may have had the suspension seat post on ass I bought that extra and fitted it. That does add a few inches. I am 5 fr 5 inches and ride this bike easily. Truly this is my favourite out the new range. Bags of power and comfort. Remember to use my discount code 100PETER at checkout on theUK site to get £100 discount. Enjoy.

How does it cope on hills. I’m supposing it grips the road better than a thin tyres bike. Is it hard work without using the battery?
@PetersReviews
@PetersReviews Жыл бұрын
Hi John, couple of things to answer for you so yes the fat tyres add to grip especially if the roads or paths are wet and slippery. They are also great on gravel paths and toe paths and woods. They are best being slightly under inflated as they absorb some of the bumps and you have more tyre on the road for more grip. Going up hills using a higher level of power assist makes hills so much easier. I would say the motor is doing over 60 to 70 percent of the work. You just pedal as normal choose your level of assist depending on the hill and your fitness and your away. As for riding the bike without any assistance I haven’t tried that but I know it will feel heavy. I wouldn’t want to do that for any length of time. It’s a power assist bike so always take advantage of the assistance even at the lower level one assistance. Eskute are showing the bikes at the National bike show at the nec this weekend and I will be on the stand to help with some of the eskute team. If you have any other questions let me know. Remember my discount code gets you £100 off the current sale price so that’s a double win. Just enter 100PETER in the discount box at checkout if this is the one for you. Also I have a new video of the Star coming out later this week just editing it this week.

How is the pedalling frequency at 25 km/h. Is it comfortable or already too fast like with many other folding ebikes?
@PetersReviews
@PetersReviews Жыл бұрын
Hi there and thanks for watching. At 25km/h i find it to be good. The reason i have no issues is that i ride the Star in the higher gears 6 or 7 most of the time. You can also derestrict the Star easily letting you ride at 35km/h. You just have to disconect the White cable with the black connector housed with the controller that is down by the crank. If you need more info Let me know. Remember to use our discount code 70PETER in the discount box at checkout to receive a 70 quid discount.

Hi Peter! How do get along with the bike's weight of 33kg? Looks like it does not fit so easy in the car, does it? What's the discount code? I don't know if it will work if I order from Germany... Have a nice day and joy with the Star!

Hi Marc.... I am in Spain And I ordered my STAR from Amazon as it had a deal of 300 euros off. The bike was held up in Neuenstein Germany before it was shipped to Spain. I believe that Eskute have a distribution depot near there in Germany. I see that Amazon Germany have a 250 discount at the moment. So if you are thinking of buying one it looks like it is 50 euros cheaper than buying from Eskute direct? Good luck

@@PetersReviews Hi Peter, your code does not work, but I got one from a German reviewer...;-) What are you experiences regarding the range of the battery? Is 120km realistic? Another question: Is it possible to drive the Star also without using the engine (on a flat street)? I ask for the case you run out of battery.
@PetersReviews
@PetersReviews Жыл бұрын
@@marcs.7102 not sure on the range as it’s very early to say. I would say around 59 miles is achievable it’s a big battery. As for running without power assists yes that’s possible just press the power assists down to nothing on the display.

Great review thanks Pete. Have you ever had a puncture on one of these heavy e-bikes. If faced with this and had to push the bike back to the car, is there a walk assist to help and how easy is it to get tyre off and on, especially the back one. Keep up the good work. I will be buying one, £300 off at the moment plus a further £100 using ESKUTE100 .

Never had a puncture but the bigger the tyre the easier it's the little ones that are tricky. Yes walk assist holding down the - key. There is also a thumb throttle module available I do recommend if you watch my video it shows you how to fit. As for the discount code we have a £70 discount code I try to encourage buyers to use to help me grow and fund the channel. It's an affiliate discount code so I get a small kick back. Discount code 70PETER. Just a quick second thing I also have my eskute star for sale like new with only 40 miles on the clock and it has the thumb throttle fitted so great fun. Selling for £1100 and depending where you are I can deliver.

As it only has 7 gears, what speed does it reach before you have to stop pedalling ?
@PetersReviews
@PetersReviews Жыл бұрын
Hi and thanks for watching my video I really appreciate you taking the time and I hope it helped you to decide if the Star is the one for you. As for your question, the Sate doesn’t have a throttle so you will always need to peddle. The magic of this e-bike is it has 5 great power assists levels. This means the bikes motor is doing most of the work but you need to be pedalling for the torque sensor to turn the motor on and push you along. The bike is restricted to 15.5mph as per uk laws but can be derestricted and it will then power you along at about 23mph and that feels great. In the highest power assist level 5 you will feel the bike doing most of the work. I have riden all the eskute range and this is far the best. If you do decide this is the e-bike for you please remember to use our discount code that will save you £100! Just enter 100PETER in the discount box at checkout on the eskute website.

@PetersReviews Thank you Peter, I am interested. My question was more aimed at can you still pedal for instance at 23mph as it only has 7 gears, my existing e bike I can only pedal up to 16mph and my legs can't go round fast enough so i have to stop pedalling, it feels like there should be more gears if that makes sense? Also have Eskute sorted out the battery problems I read alot about? Thanks for your reply.

@@jcundall99 Hi, and sorry I misunderstood question. I now understand, the gear ratio is good yes you can peddle past the assisted speed mode if your up in gear 7 and to be honest I spend most of my time in the higher gears as the assistance is good. As I’ve derestricted mine I tend to cruise along on power assist level 5 in gear 7 at about 19mph. If I wanted to peddle faster I could go faster last the power assist so the gear ratio feels good to me. As for the battery issues there has no reported failures on the Stars 36v 25ah battery. This is the biggest and strongest battery in the range. The Netuno Plus has had a few battery failures but that was only in the first batch of the newly realised bikes. The batteries have a new battery management system and proper Samsung or LG batteries. This star bike to me is the most comfortable and most versatile e-bike in the range. I have the green one and is very eye catching I have had many compliments when out on my rides. I have a friend who has borrowed it for a week as he was considering commuting to work each day and he loved it and bought the same green one. I hope this helps.

That sounds perfect then, thanks for all your help and fast response. I've noticed it's dropped to £1399 at the moment and with your discount code I'd be stupid not too! My eleglide is a nice bike but just lacks on a few things that I think the eskute has. Will sort it out after work ❤️
