What a great video. I loved how you pointed out that firor has made these exact promises over and over again, year after year, and never once made good on them. So many people are on the forums white knighting these statements with the same old hopeful "give them a break, it's clear they intend to do good by us this time", and it just blows my mind that they don't remember every single other time that Zenimax has used this EXACT tactic. Totally agree that even if they DID intent to actually put honest effort into the PVP or balancing side of the game, the actions of the current developer team do not inspire any confidence in their capabilities to do it well. There is no reason to believe that the same team responsible for hybridization, for the update 35 changes, for maras balm, and for scribing are capable of creating a fun and balanced PVP environment.

We players were right all along that they devs don't know what they are doing regarding pvp. It's not CP checks or proc sets that causes performance issues. The hardware team ether has no budget or has no clue. PvP events like Whitestrake’s Mayhem prove the game server can perform if given the resources. This game has been managed into the ground. I Remember right after the NA server refresh. For 2 weeks cyro played flawlessly. No lag. Big fights. it was amazing. Then they "patched" the server and performance went back to crap.

yeah, it's clear they don't want to allocate those resources. even then, and it could be anecdotal of course...i notice substantial performance changes based on different proc set implementations. Maras balm was one, dark convergence was another. Either way if you refuse to allocate those resources I think less checks makes sense

The self fumigation he does every year was strong here too, but when he said that "It's PRETTY OBVIOUS that we have made the right changes to the game when we were needed!" I wanted to close the page. By which metric is that "obvious"? That you have the least amount of players in ESO's history now? That the chapter performed the worst out of all? That almost not a single veteran is still loyal to the game? And when he tried to emulate being an ESO player, but failed horribly at it... looked like some AI trying to pretend what it's like to be a human. He talked about the struggle with his house and the journey with his companion. Yea, right. Stop pretending that you play the game.

Best part of ESO was seeing the various players have their own point of realizing they were boiling frogs. Mine was testing 3600 CP builds on PTS for CP launch and when they took away dynamic ult gen.

I think the point most people are missing here is number 1, remake the game that has its roots in 16 year old software that was being developed before Skyrim came out, or at the very least, bring Cyrodiil back to the point BEFORE all the performance issues. We used to have 500 v 500 v 500 at the start of the game, no problem - so the population isnt the issue. The issue, at bare minimum, is CP and proc sets. Remove them from Cyrodiil and the performance should go back to what it was before all the lag. And when I say remove proc sets, I mean ONLY allow stat based sets with NO conditions. Period. And then you go and try to work them in Cyrodiil again - testing to see if it hurts performance. You don't do the opposite, which is allow Cyrodiil to be in a dominantly bad state and then do things to try to help it. They prioritize CP and proc sets over performance. Think about that. They think it would hurt Cyrodiil to remove them. It would be an overall success to remove them because it would bring more players back then they would lose. They've always gone about it in a backwards way and tried to push the limits when they are way past their limit. It's like somebody who can only benchpress 175 lbs 10 times trying to benchpress 275 lbs 10 times everyday and even though they keep struggling and failing they keep trying - and instead of bringing the weight down to what they can manage and then building up, they try to bring the weight down 10 lbs and if it doesn't work, they go back to the 275 lbs. Bruh, its not going to work and never will.

The dev team still cannot answer why an F2P game like Genshin Impact has more content added regularly and, wow, you don't HAVE to use the cash shop vs. ESO. ESO has been dead since after Summerset, it just lucked out with the pandemic. Fact is the entire leadership team gots to go for the game to move in the right direction, or they can do something insane: admit their incompetence and pledge to do better. And after pledging that, actually do so. But no. Instead they will continue to ban anyone that doesn't toe the line and shove their head up ZOS' rear end in exchange for a chance to smell a fart or participate in the turd that is ESO's current PvP & PvE. Wise decision to leave. There's nothing to lose at this point anyway.

The game teaches casuals to be even more casual, if that's such a thing. They never learned to play the game because the overland never teaches them anything. From low cp players to even cp 2000+ players, I see them hitting like wet noodles in dungeons, doing literally no DPS. They don't have a heal or shield slotted. They stand in the stupid and just expect to be healed through it. They don't dodge roll, block, or interrupt enemies. Again, they can't hide behind the "oh it's just new players blah blah", NO! It's casuals that were coddled to that are now toxic casuals.

I played eso for the first time this year. At one point i legit said... why tf am i tolerating this, i should just play a korean mmo if the mtx is this predatory. I think korean mmos like black desert have the best gameplay of any game ever but the mtx ruins it all. Also fk zos. I grinded out a 2 or 3 patch old stickerbook and golded it as my first real build and they nerfed it so the whole build doesnt work. Players even said the set was safe from nerf. I ran that fkin dung like 100 times... waste of time. At least 4v4v4 was one of the best pvp modes in the genre whoch carried the game.... they removed it. Cryo is legit just running sim for me because i play NA from australia... Which steam never told me a 10 year old main mmo doesnt have sea or even aussie stuff is insanity.

ESO's main spirit died back in 2017. That is when the rails no only became a performance problem, but it also became a combat problem. They never fixed the problems with their reworks on combat, and it's been 8 years almost. They killed ESO basically 2 years in to their career and walked around its dead body to show us its new lifeless body for the past 8 years.

ESO is such a weird game for me... I started playing it a year ago, so a new player, and even I am baffled at how easy overland content is. I was expecting Skyrim levels of difficulty for the quests, but instead it feels like the quests were designed for children. It's a shame because I think the quests are mostly very interesting. Could never get into PvP, but I love running dungeons.

I was already considering quitting at the end of the year, I was getting too tired. It felt more like a chore to me nowadays (though I still want to get those statue pieces they're doing in the golden pursuits for some dumb reason, same with the gilded versions of the original 3 costumes), but seeing their actions in regards to the stream getting taken down, canceling the 10 year North American event, and then having the gall to write a cope letter??? All those things just solidified my decision to leave (I'm STILL pissed they won't unlock gifting for my account, which I've had for almost 10 years on Xbox!) ESO and never look back. On point in all ways, you pinpointed so much that i came up with throughout the years of playing, trying to figure out how this game was losing its stability in performance. All these calculations, all these synchronisations, they are too much to bear for a game, especially one with that age. The amount of times ive sent feedback, out of love, out of concern, out of support and nothing ever came out of it. I caught actual hackers doing the wackiest stuff just to see them getting a not even a ban, thats the moment when i started to understand the hackers (and i am not supporting any of it), but it tells a big story of management into the devs core essentials of the game. Its like a themepark, where you have to throw 2 dollars into a donkeys butt to get 1 ride of the rollercoaster, just to find out there is even more but you'd have to spent even more. Worst part is, it isnt about spending money, its about spending trust and a pack full of respect. Ive quit this year too and it felt so great. And since im basicly only an Elder Scrolls fanatic, it speaks books. Great video. It was too the point, honest and even tho loaded with criticisme, it was the healthy part of criticisme. I’m mostly into questing, housing and selling on the market board and even I’m worried. According to my guild mates, this is one of the worst market crashes (I suppose you could call it) that they’ve ever seen. So it’s even harder to save up for furnishing and mats. Plus I’ve been kind of drawing out zone quests/main quests because I’m worried that I’ll get bored and stuck once I’ve gone through every story. So even for casual players it’s been rough. 😭

I'm a day 1 player and I haven't done much besides check out events, realize they're not any better, and leave. I still did writs here and there to have mats, a little trading to keep gold up-all in an effort to hold out hope. First I gave up on PVP, then the PVE stories got so bad I haven't finished the new chapters in years, and now I feel like the only reason I sign in here & there is from habit. Thank you for taking the time to make this, it was excellent information and is really having the back of the players-unlike the team at ESO. I am off to cancel my ESO Plus and recommend to my boyfriend to do the same. I still have some amazing memories from the PVP in the game, it's just a shame the company doesn't understand what they had. A friend of mine on PS5 told me to look up your latest ESO video. I’ve seen other ESO content makers express the same sentiment. Your not wrong. At the same time I have seen Cyrodill wax and wane in performance, it gets better, it gets worse, and repeat. I’ve seen it become more friendly to new players by raising the floor without lowering the ceiling, and balancing changes so I couldn’t X 12 man groups any more, because I understood more about a very complex game than them. It’s sad for me because it’s not the game it was. It’s less fun for me, but it’s probably more fun for that 12 man group.

From my limited programming knowledge the problem should be proc sets which trigger very often. If it is once every 6 seconds that should be ok, at least fron what I understand. But of course this damage heal set will probably trigger like 4 times per second.

I felt like the sudden focus on improving the content within The Crown store back around the time the pandemic started was out of the blue. You might call it a sudden stroke of creative genius, but my initial thoughts was that between the badass new crown store content and the new buy a chapter for the new overpowered mythic sales meta they created, That they probably saw writing on the wall, and decided to start cashing in. Everything since 2020 has felt like there, just milking the dairy cow. For every last drop, they can, and this letter right here feels like we're getting called out to pasture I genuinely am not looking at this from a cynical lens. I've always looked at it more from a business perspective, they've been bleeding a player base. They've been facing lots of backlash. They don't seem to have any clear direction of which way they're going to take the game or improve it, let alone fix player versus player performance. And I believe rather than throwing their head against the wall, for a solution, they decided to cash in. If it's true, they have another game, they're working on the past couple years could have literally just been them siphoning money out of the elder scrolls online player base to fund the new one

The main problem the game has is like you mentioned, the devs were trying to get more new players and didn't consider the vets making the game way to casual an experience. Multiple times I've made new toons and not put my CP on and just used the gear I could find but even then I was carving through things while leveling without an issue. I played for about 2 months after Gold Road but eventually decided it wasn't engaging anymore. Since then I've played Space Marine 2, Palworld and more recently I've gone back to Wayfinder after having played the early access for the first 6 months. It's a great game and I'd recommend it to anyone else who's looking for something different to eso that also won't break the bank!

ESO switching to seasons just reenforces the idea that this game is heading to maintenance mode around the time of TES6 release. For 1 they only have so much space for large map exspansions which i feel is a reason they have been cutting content for the past 2 years and only having a single zone and now not even that. The changes they speak of are good on paper, making overworld content harder thats good, making more end game zones like craglorn cool, updating the visuals of the base game zones neat and new stories in old zones with continueing old ones as well nice. But as we can all guess ZoS is probably going to fuck it all up and i dont see a reason to come back snd i dont have faith they will actually pull this off. I’m not a huge PVP’er so when a noob asked me about PVP sets for a Blade, I struggled to think of a PVP KZbinr I could recommend. I was like…Godzilla…no he left…Nyce…no he left…Else…he left… Sigh…😢 I’m a few achievements away from becoming a casual. Come to think of it I might be a casual already. 😅

craft bag is an easy work around with guild banks and multiple player inventory. Along with the sticker book the craft bag isn't necessary anymore.

I've played like 4 years on pc. It's the only game I play. I've seen the quality of plat wear down and the resigning of old content and calling it new. I believe the players wiser than me saying this game is on its way to maintenance mode. It is a bummer. Hopefully they've got a game in the hopper that's awesome

Never expect models like this are gd and what devs say in situations like this to sugar coat it. This is one of those expectations vs reality changes it sounds ok like always on paper and the way the Devs explains it but when it's implemented all hell breaks loose and begins to go downhill.

ESO was such a fun concept from the beginning, and yet over the years it looks like I never missed much by playing once every few days out of the 8 or so years it's been out. I got my character pretty far but I just dropped it everytime after a putting in a week of time, combat was always piss easy like in Skyrim, the character dialogue was boring and the font used for quest text was hard to read. Even the camera they use for the character moments when you speak to someone was jarring, like it takes you out of the First Person or even Third Person camera for this half Oblivion half Skyrim camera that belongs in a alpha build of the game. Ultimately there's nothing here in ESO that can replace Classic WoW to me, not even the PVP content which I don't even engage with in WoW, but if I do the PvP content is vast and has a high skill ceiling that I can hit.

Yeah... Literally the only thing in the Matt Firor letter that I can take seriously is the updating of some old base game zone textures. I've been a huge Elder Scrolls fan my whole life and that's the only reason I'm still playing. I liked all content in ESO but I don't think I've done more than 20 hours of anything other than questing/rp and housing since 2020.

I've played this game since before Necro was out, I've survived the coloss bash builds, the dots patch, the no proc patch, the old servers, the release of the original dark convergence, broken Hrothgar, corro dk patch, the nerfs to graveyard, the stupid buffs to nighblade-because the only dev that actually plays pvp is a noob that can't play without cloak, the same kind of player that couldn't play without the old mist form-and I'm finally done. With the nerfs to vamp and the addition to the kill feed, everyone is running 40k hp, everyone zergs, and with most players being afraid of dying the PVP content is dead for casuals. I stopped caring about campaigns years ago because the rewards are meaningless, and logging in to play ball group in a game I now dislike just doesn't make sense. I get it, many have spent so much time and crowns on this game, and if you're in console there don't seem to be many other options. But I think is time we give other games a chance...

Yeah I wish ESO went the same approach that Smite is going through right now. Rebuilding their entire game on newer technology, from unreal 3 to unreal 5. And Smite 2 feels great in it's Alpha stage. They took a few of their developers to just "test out and see" what Smite would look like on unreal 5 for 1 month and they couldn't believe how much easier it was to work on everything. Since then, they've devoted more resources to it and the game is coming around great! Sure, ESO would be a larger undertaking...but it would have certainly been interesting to see how much they could have improved IF the archaic systems they are still using wasn't just an excuse to hold them back. Oh well! Welcome to the Island of Misfits No1!

I only played eso at start for 12 to 24 months. But after listening to your video, i would say eso will go into maintenance mode. A 10 year mmo, is a small lifespan next to ffxi. And i have played it since launch. Seasons mean no new jobs, big zones, no new skills. Move on guys.

I played eso from just before morrowind through necrom release. I loved the gameplay and the story. But after years of changes, I realized it wasn't the game I fell in love with. It's too bad the devs and higher ups don't listen to their fan base.

After a 2-year break, I've just recently come back... LMFAO, that forever "you can't mount in combat" glitch is still here. I'm done with this game. My Grand Overlord has served his duty well. However, ZOS doesn't care about us. They're more interested in selling re-skinned mounts than fixing PvP servers. I was banned for a period of time (twice) from talking on the official forum because I complained about PvP server performance and suggested that people not spend money on the game until they fix PvP servers. In the past, I was an ESO Plus subscriber. Since the ban, I haven't spent one more cent in this game anymore. I'm done with this game. There are many other good MMOs. Guys, let's vote with our wallets. VOTE WITH OUR WALLETS!

The CP nerf reminded me of when WoW dumbed down thier skill tres. And then ESO hybridized every and killed the originality with almost forced metas. Sure you can we whatever but youll never be anything but mid unless you run the meta

PVP in general is in terrible shape with the lag and latency. Thats why Oakensoul builds are rampant. Tryinna bar swap in PVP is a death sentence
