@@erikm5753 Hey Erik. I already had a Webasto Dual Pro installed and I wanted one for higher elevation and a back up for chasing snow. So I needed the Dorman 800-176 T connector. But with one heater you only need the Dorman 800-176 for a Sprinter. (Not sure what the Fuel Tap connects are for the other vans). Everything else needed was with unit on purchase.

@@paulm7578 I ended up with everything I needed with the exception of the connector into the fuel tank, which happened to have a tap on it, thankfully.

Firstly a Gold Star for the filming of this fitting, whilst the heaters are expensive they do last in the long term trucks have these in there cabs for many years and are fault free in most respects, , Not sure if you have a product called waxoil in the States but its a aerosol product of a waterproof liquid wax penetrating and would be the ideal product for all the new pipe clips under the chassis, makes a nice sticky covering all the new metal clips but years later they will be rust free like new at very little cost.

@@EncompassAdventure May I add to this posting , its what car / van makers put in the cavities or the internal base s of doors when on the production lines on some makes they even spray the whole undersides thickly to leave a rustproof / waterproof sticky waxy finish, they make normal aerosol spray cans in most car spare s shops in UK to patch job area s ( the only thing that removes it is kerosene/ parraffin ) For information the classic car collectors swear by it to protect their investment long term , basic fact if in aution of classic cars and Waxoil is mentioned the price is a lot higher the product is that good.. Good hunting finding it .

First off, bravo for doing it yourself! 👏🏻 Second off, bravo for FILMING it while you installed the dang thing! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 How do you know whether your sprinter has the fuel tap? Is it by year? Or is it an option?
@EncompassAdventure
@EncompassAdventure 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We had an appointment to take it into a shop and have it done but they wanted $850! 😵 so we decided to take on the task ourselves and now we know how it works so we can trouble shoot if something breaks in the future. Filming it definitely adds an extra dynamic, so we appreciate you noticing! 💕 As for which ones have the fuel tap. I want to say it's by year but I haven't looked into it enough to know for sure so don't quote me on that. I would research the year of your van, maybe call a dealership or get under it and see if there is one. Hope this helps! Let us know what you find out. 😊

A 2020, awesome! I want to say yours probably has it then and that they come standard now. Not 100% sure but I would assume so. We didn't choose any options on ours, the dealership did and we found the van and bought it. Otherwise, I'd let you know. Best of luck! 😊

Awesome video. I've seen everybody plumbing the exhaust to the door side. Is there any reason you can't take the exhaust out over at the driver's side? I'm about to buy one of these for my van.
@EncompassAdventure
@EncompassAdventure 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! We thought about it but didn't because we would have had to go over the drive train and the van's exhaust, possibly creating a valley in the pipe and you want it in a downward slope so condensation doesn't build up. Additionally, in some of the videos we watched, they didn't receive enough length to reach the drivers side (possibly intentional). Ours was luckily long enough to come out right past the sliding door closer to the back tire, instead of right under the sliding door. I'm sure you could find a good spot to have it come out the drivers side though, if that's what you're wanting. :) Hope this helps!

You're so kind, thank you!! Because we got the newer kit, it actually already has the higher altitude adjustment setting included, to account for that. I know people used to have to buy the high altitude censor separately. We've been using it here in Salt Lake City, Utah while working on the van and it's amazing! It really keeps the van nice and toasty. If you order from Heatso.com, they're really responsive and can help you choose the right heater/kit to accommodate your needs. We messaged them before our purchase and they were really helpful. Just make sure to do your research.

your fuel pump is installed the wrong way round, and the muffler is installed incorrectly, also upside down... There is a hole in the muffler to drain condensed water, and the pump is supposed to have its electrical connector upside down at 15 to 35 degrees. Regards

No, it is installed the correct way. The electrical connector faces towards the suction side of the pump where also the fuel filter is situated. There is a small arrow on the electrical connector that shows the fuel flow which they pointed out in the video. Cheers.

Mostly just because we didn’t want to ever run down the van battery and the ease of being able to disconnect it with the fuse box for the house battery. The van battery would have had the shutoff under the driver seat but the fuse box for our house battery is easily accessible at the back of the van in the garage.

If you detach the car battery, wait 15-20 minutes, you can disconnect any module in a car, including airbags. Be careful of static discharge around airbag wiring. Reconnect everything before reconnecting the vehicle battery or turning the ignition on and no codes will be set by any modules. Rather than pay $150 at a dealer, you can purchase a Mercedes-specific diagnostic tool, just make sure it has an SRS-reset function. It won’t be much cheaper than a single dealer visit, but then you can read and reset codes yourself.
