I think Valkyrie is more for a guns blazing hot LZ while the prowler can sneak in troops and fight it way out if need be. So if you're ferrying troops + vehicles valkayrie is the way to go, if you need a strong anti-fighter to keep the skies clear, prowler is the best.

Very true however in my opinion I see the Valkyrie as a lone tank able to hold its own on its own where as the prowler as you said is a sneak troops behind enemy lines however with its shields in numbers a prowler would easily be able to hold its own in a hot LZ

Since the Prowler is supposed to be stealthy, I figure the two S5 are there to welcome our current distortion scatterguns, to rapidly disable a ship and keep it pinned in the last moments of boarding. Sadly the Prowler is anything but stealthy and personally I refuse to use it until it performs closer to how it should.

The Prowler is a ship to watch for the future because A) it is also a land hovercraft B) Stealth C) gravlev docking on larger ships with stealth may be extremely powerful

Definitely. I always review ships as they currently are as it's never clear if the future is 3 months or 3 years before a rework etc. But I think in a feature complete game, Prowler will be very interesting

I upgraded to a Prowler during the ship showdown and I fell in love. It's nimble enough to take on anything up to a Connie. Though I prefer the stock weapons, they really do melt ships quick. Combined with one stock shield and a FR-76 makes it beastly. Definitely looking forward to the Talon. As to why it lost, I have no idea. Makes me sad though that it did lose. Oh well.

I just think the mismatch between pricing is a shame. Eg cheaper to buy a Connie with cash, but cheaper to buy a Prowler in game

It's maneuverability is also very close to that of some heavy dogfighters. The Glaive is only a little better in pitch, yaw, roll and speed while the Super Hornet is even WORSE than the Prowler. Stats for the SH: yaw 55, pitch 50, roll 117, SCM 189, max speed 1228. Stats for the Prowler: yaw 57, pitch 58, roll 125, SCM 178, max speed 1116. Let that sink in for a while... when it settled go and compare the base loadout dps of the SH (1615) and that of the Prowler (1706). If that is not enough go and compare the shield hitpoints of the SH (10800) to that of the Prowler (76920) and you can see why (on paper) the Prowler outmatches even the Super Hornet in its current state. Hell even when the Super Hornet gets more armor its still very likely that the Prowler turns out to be tankier due to its shields. What the SH has going for it over the Prowler? The missiles and a smaller sillhoutte and a higher max speed and SCM but thats not that important. Its also good to compare the Prowler to the Sentinel. A lot of players right now think the Sentinel is a very strong ship in dogfights. Rightfully so. But the Prowler has better stats than the Sentinel. Also quite impressive if you ask me

Valkyrie is my choice. The Prowler is ideal for sneaking in and its uniquely suited air shields make it superior for spaceborne boarding situations. The Valkyrie has the greater flexibility of cargo capacity and/or carrying vehicles inside its main hold, 4 more troops than the Prowler, and the capability for the ship crew to go on extended trips due to facilities onboard including beds to log off. Stock Prowler can own a Valkyrie in a dogfight and melt smaller fighters; and makes a great pursuit vehicle in bounty hunting (with an upgraded quantum drive in can go fast and far). It can take a beating and throw a heavy volley - my fav ship.

I find I still make a small profit when using it for combat; but to me combat missions don't make as much money as I can on the former two trades - no matter what ship I fly combat doesn't make me as much money per hour.

Great ship, but the biggest issue I've seen in every review of this ship is that people ignore its most unique capability which the design is centered around. The side facing troop drop doors are protected by force fields that protect the atmospheric integrity of the interior and provide a specific and special dismount option. Why? Because the ship was designed to board other space vessels. If you read the history of the ship, you will note that it was feared for its capability to sneak up on, and deliver boarding parties, onto enemy spacecraft while in space. The gravity well devices along the ship's underside aid in this type of maneuver, allowing the Prowler to make a soft deployment onto ship skins w/o breaking its stealth. So, although it can function as a stealth option for ground deployment for troops, its true strength is in its capacity to perform ship to ship clandestine operations. Other than the rule of cool, I don't find the Prowler very useful unless being used for mainly ship to ship boarding actions and the occasional stealth ground deployment. Personally I will keep my Valkyrie since I find it more flexible and better for group play situations.

@@Farrister true. Which seems to be t he case with certain ships. If you haven't done a video on it yet, that might make a good topic video, "Ship Crew Requirements in a AI Blade World." Looking at ships in the perspective of which ones can be automated and which ones cannot in order to fulfill their intended purpose. Ships like the Prowler need people to deploy, while ships like the Redeemer can probably AI Blade their turrets to fulfill their gunship capabilities. But can a Reclaimer, or a Mole, AI Blade their processing automations? For a pure speculation video it might be fun but will probably require as much AI reference material from Star Citizen news.

The most interesting part of the ship is the one way hatch shields. You can shoot out, but no one can shoot in. Not entirely useful, because your ship is a sitting duck for other ships, but in situations where there's ground battles, troops inside the ship could use it as a bunker to be impervious to ground fire. I think the best use for it, would be to land near somewhere a bounty is landed, and just stand in the door with a sniper rifle and pick them off when they're outside their ship. If they manage to get to their ship, you can likely get to the cockpit and take off well before they can.

Thanks for that video! I'll get the Prowler today on the IAE 2950's alien day. I wanted a dedicated dropship for a long time and always owned the Redeemer. But now the Redeemer most likely lost its dropseats so I had to find a new dropship. Why I pick up the Prowler over the Hoplite and Valkyrie? Its better suited for combat since a single player controls all weapons easily while the Hoplite and Valkyrie need a second player or NPCs/AI. That being said, the only aspect the Valkyrie has going for it is the ability to hold a ground vehicle and cargo. Thats a big plus and made the decision hard again. But then I re-read the q&a's for the Prowler and saw that its also designed as a boarding-dropship. The Valkyrie cant offer that (most likely) or is at least worse in that role. That are my reasons for picking up the Prowler summarized: easily flyable by a single player, very stealthy, great firepower, great shields, great looks, good flight model and the ability to board enemy ships.

In lore the cockpit is made out of a material which becomes transparent when powered. Its significantly more resilient than other transparent options but will leave you entirely blind during a powerloss. Also I cant quite remember if it already was like that in 3.10 but the handling of the prowler, which was its biggest strongpoint in combat has significantly worsened. I dont recommend spending either the 440 dollars or 2.5 million uec.
