Lebron and cowboys trolling aside, Skip has a pretty good perspective on sports. He’s been covering sports for over 40 years in the trenches reporting and on TV. He’s no scrub, and understands sports more than most.

Personally never liked Skip's gimmick. It was overinflate everyone he liked, disparage everyone he didn't like. Zero objectivity, and it routinely turned disrespectful and personal. Thankfully people finally got sick of it.

Skip was using the term "Hall of Fame" as an insult towards Shannon's knowledge and opinions. Shannon asked Skip to stop multiple times on-air, Skip never stopped of course, a HUGE character flaw of Bayless.

I still remembered when Skip Bayless went on to KNBR during the Cowboys‘ rise during the early 1990s, and he was beyond obnoxius, subjective, and disrespectful to anyone and EVERYONE who refuses to abandon the 49ers root for Dallas, and his disparages has ruffled so many people that they have no respect for Skip, myself included.

People dont want to admit it, especially in my community, how similar to Skip Stephen A really is... They have almost identical personalities with different deliveries. I cant stand watching Skip but its undeniable how much hes done for the black community behind the scenes, even Prime acknowledged it on live TV when he gave props and a hug to Skip and told him he loved him. Stephen A tries SO hard to preach about how much he has done and is doing for the black community, but you never hear it from anyone elses mouth. Brother knows hes in the 1% living in a gated community but he is so insecure about his blackness he finna lie about the impact he has behind the scenes, its nauseating. When Max started getting more respect as a man more in tune with the streets than Stephen A, he couldnt handle it. You could literally see the hate in his face all the time.

i disagree. if anything, i think the as more time passes and Skip is out of the spotlight history will look favorably upon him. He is a true OG of the sports media space, if not THE founding father. What he was able to establish and maintain for nearly 3 decades, across multiple generations of sports fans cannot be denied. Yes most of us couldnt bare to listen to his takes by the end but he truly set the platform that all of our favorite shows and sports personalities now sit on. When he passes on you'll see the overwhelming support poor in from literally everyone in the space - including Stephen A and Shannon. If they got rid of Stephen A and Scott Bayless it would be all for the best best. Bayless is a racist and everyone saw it when he shouted and screamed at Shannon Sharp. Skip's show was down the drain when he showed his colors with his nasty attitude towards Shannon.

These polarizing sports talk characters are essential for the health and development of sports in general. They get eyes on the sports and interest in the stars, etc. If there was nothing but straightforward monotone sportscasting in news report format, sports would have half the attention it does today. I don't know why so many people forget, this isnt about whos got the most popular opinion, whos right or wrong, who is the most likeable, or anything else like that. Its about getting asses in the seats and eyes on the screen. Thats it. Literally nothing more. The fact that we're here listening and commenting on it is all part of it. People take this stuff way too seriously. "Its only entertainment" - Greg Graffin

Sports media doesn’t need Skip. Not for nothing, it doesn’t need Stephen A either. Also, Skip didn’t “make” anyone, he shared his platform.

Skip destroyed Undisputed with what he did to Shannon because he wanted to prove a point. He sacrificed the good thing he had going for his pride and need to always win an argument to feed his schtick and getting clicks. His ego always outweighs true freindships. He did it to himself.

Skip being done forever would be the best thing to happen in sports media in a long time. Also FS1 seems to have failed to rival ESPN outside of Shannon coming to relevance and oh wait he's at ESPN now lol Which is all wild because ESPN ain't what it use to be either

So I will say… for a time, skips gimmick was fantastic, I was a fan, while a little batshit crazy, it worked, and most importantly, it was different. With so many dry personalities in sports, he created a new format, and just offered something different. And different is usually good, but not forever. Even as a former fan, he got old, that format got old, and everything about it just wore out its welcome. It always had a shelf life on it, and now it has mold on it and needs to be thrown in the trash. He had a great run, great career… but it’s time to hang it up. If Skip was smart, he’d start something like the volume and run it behind the scenes. And make a very rare appearance.

If Skip happens to find a fun and knowledgeable partner to talks sports and banter with, I will still watch his show. I just don't want him monologuing and he needs to find a nice producer so that he can expand the topics they can talk about. But since he didn't really make friends and maintained friendship with the athletes he has worked with, it will be a problem. Also, I'd rather watch Skip than that show that took First Things First's original time slot.
