Growing up in KC, that period when we had both Whitlock and Posnanski. I was as big of a journalism fan as I was a sports fan, so it was just this perfect time. Whitlock mentioning Mike Royko just solidified my respect for him. So when KC finally got a sports talk radio station, I was pretty excited for Whitlock's show. I tried a couple of times, but it was such a toxic horrible mess, that I just noped out after giving it too many chances. And nothing I've seen of Whitlock live ever since has changed that opinion. He was still good in the paper, but I just avoided his other ventures. Eventually, I just had to stop reading him, too, because his radio and TV persona was creating a writer that no longer thought he needed an editior. Honestly, living in St. Louis now, we went through a similar deal with Bernie Miklasz. His radio stuff wasn't so bad, but it made him believe he didn't need the paper anymore. Sure enough, his blog "columns" turned into a bunch of stupid rants that never added up. After leaving the paper, even his radio stuff got worse, where he spent hours arguing with imaginary dumb people, doing the worst strawman argument bits I've ever heard in sports. All of that has made me really respect those who can go on their own effectively all that more.

That’s not true. D2 schools do give scholarships, they just have less to give. But D2 basketball programs get 11-12 scholarships for men and for women. So it’s very possible SAS could have gotten a scholarship for basketball.
