If the Dallas Mavs had picked up Malone in 1985, wow they probably would have beat the Lakers in 1988. They took the Lakers to game 7 that year in the Western Conference Finals.

OK, Tim Duncan is a 5.. Just because Pop listed him as a 4, so he could make the All Star starting line up (cause of Shaq), doesn't mean he's not a 5..

Karl Malone is the greatest power forward ever to play the game until Tim Duncan came to the NBA. What sucks is Malone's astounding statistics can't save him from the fact that Tim Duncan has more rings.
@peterblue2708

He had 4 decisions to make. 1. Stay in L.A., 2. Go to San Antonio, 3. Accept the trade to Miami, and 4. Retire. He couldve won a ring if he went to Miami and play for 2 years.

@Thekingpac2014
@Thekingpac2014 12 жыл бұрын
You're right about Garnett getting owed by Malone.But back then KG wasn't the hard nose player he is today,KG's more pissed off now more so than he was as a younger player.And no,Duncan played the majority of his career at Power Forward(backing up David Robinson who was the Center until he retired).Duncan's 6-11 and his secondary position was Center.Also,it doesn't matter if Malone faced Jordan's Bulls,that reason doesn't make him the greatest PF to ever play.

jordan had pippen and rodman, bird had dennis johnson and mchale, and magic had the legend that is kareem abdul-jabbar. Stockton is the best point guard ever to have played, but the jazz always had one element missing, every playoff campaign. Malone, in my opinion, was just as driven and as fierce a competitor as any of the names we have mentioned, my point is that he did not lack a killer instinct, merely a complete jazz team. But yes, jordan could carry the bulls without rodman, indeed he did.

Malone was the second best player in the Jordan era, thats pretty high praise in anybody's minds. He and his team came the closest to beating MJ in the Finals than anybody else. That alone makes the Mailman an all time great.

@@jackjelf07 Jordan played bad teams in the finals????🤔...that 92' Portland trailblazer team was stacked with Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Buck Williams, Clifford Robinson, Kevin Duckworth, Jarome Kersey, Danny Ainge, Rod Strickland, Mario Elie, Tracy Murray, and they had more talent from top to bottom then what the Chicago Bulls had, that 93' Pheonix Suns team with Charles Barkley, Danny Ainge, Kevin Johnson, Richard Dumas, Cedric Ceballos, Tom Chambers, Dan Majerle Or do you want to talk about that 96' Seattle Supersonics team with Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf, Hersey Hawkins, Sam Perkins, Nate McMillan, Eric Snow, And I don't even got to get into the Utah Jazz, Phil Jackson said in his booked and in interviews how during the Lakers 3peat he purposely avoided Utah in the playoffs due to their high basketball I.Q.

Karl was 20 and impregnated his 13 year old neighbor, then refused a relationship with his son (Demetrius Bell), who eventually played in the NFL. After growing up without a father and feeling the emotion hurt from that, he went on and did the same thing to Demetrius, after impregnating a child. Great guy.

Imagined if MJ wasn't in the league, then players like Malone, Wing, Miller, Barkley etc, etc would all have rings. Malone would have 2 rings and NOBODY would dispute his status as a PF, nor Barkley for that matter. Had both Malone or Barkley won a ring, they'd be the two argued in Greatest PF of all time, however because of having none, Duncan gets the nod. Duncan success is due to not playing during the prime of Michael Jordan.

In the end, all you need is one. One to show that you were able to get the job done. It is still one more than Malone was able to prove that he can beat the best. West proved that he was able tot beat the best, Malone never did. If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best. West, even if it's only once, did just that.

LOLOLOLOL.. Olajuwon would have Duncan crying in the corner, for his mommy!.. How quickly they forget Olajuwon averaging 37ppg, and 17rpg against the MVP/DPOY.. In a series where Olajuwon dropped 40 on Robinson 4 times, and scored at least 39 points in 5 games!.. In a 6 game series.. It's not Olajuwon's fault the Rockets were mismanaged for years, while Duncan has been nestled in the best franchise in pro sports.. Further, it was very fortuitous, indeed, for Duncan, when landed on a team that was in the WCF the year before Robinson went down, leading to the tank job of the century, and the selection of Duncan.. Olajuwon is the only man in league history to end the year in the top 10 in both steals, and rebounds, AND HE DID IT 10 YEARS IN A ROW!.. Olajuwon is a top 8 player, all time.. Duncan is not..
@billywilliam1118
@billywilliam1118 10 жыл бұрын
Your whole argument was against Robinson....which I happen to agree with....The Dream was better than the The Admiral.....sadly for you I was talking about Duncan the current champion....and although after MJ,Bird,Magic,Kareem and Russell you could put so many names in the 6-10 best ever slots....Duncan and the Dream are deserving of two of those bur wherever you put them Duncan would be 1 slot higher than the Dream period. The resume speaks for itself
@roo7227
@roo7227 10 жыл бұрын
Dude... Notice how you're the only idiot in nearly 10 months to assert such nonsense?.. Doesn't that tell you something?.. Olajuwon started more fast breaks that any player in league history, other than possibly Russell.. Great rebounder, great outlet passer, great finisher, and EASILY the greatest help defender, ever, if not the greatest defender, ever.. There's a reason Olajuwon is #7 in steals, and no other defender cracks the top 25.. You're wrong, or at least in the vast minority (you may be the only one.. lol)..

Jordan caught a hard foul from Ewing in the 95 playoffs against the Knicks that shoulda ended his career. He fell awkwardly while going up for I think it was a layup, his right leg got caught under him & he hit his head on the floor but amazingly got up right away & shook it off & kept playing. I dunno, he was just one of those people that the Pro Sports GODS looked out for...

If Malone had 2 rings for 97 and 98, then Miller would have none. The only time his team got eliminated by the Jordan-led Bulls was in 98 ECF. Barkley and Ewing wouldn't have one each, they'd be fighting for the ring in 93. The other times the Knicks got eliminated by MJ-led Bulls, they weren't championship caliber. The Cavs and especially Blazers were better in 92, the Magic and Sonics were better on 96, Detroit was better in 89. The 91' Knicks were a sub .500 team

Just re-watched game 5 of the 97 finals, Jordan's Flu Game. Malone was straight up awful in the 2nd half. He turned it over like crazy, and took so many horrible shots. He was not looking to get to the basket at all. Jordan was Jordan but Malone failed big time in those finals to get the Jazz to the title.

dbreiden83080 sorry Malone did habe hard time in few games in finals in two series against bulls! besides that Jordan's teams were better cause of style, mental toughness in bulls and especially Jordan and the makeup us what made bulls beat jazz! Malone was consistent and very durable and athletic and physically tough plus his passing,hook shot,takeaways, even can shoot threes and easily make midrange jumpshots consitently,run up and down court like a small forward or guard, dunked like he was a beast,rebounding, steals as a forward, in top 15 in regular season and playoff scoring a game, in top 5 in win shares,most games out of possible all games he played in,twenty years only missed eleven regular season games, he not decline as much like other bigs past certain age,plus number all time in defensive rebounding and in top 10 all time in overall rebounding, 11 all NBA teams, 4 time defensive player of the year, two time mvp, two finals appearances, plus all his all star selections, him and jazz being in playoffs for 19 consecutive consecutive playoff appearances, lots of division titles, lots of clutch time performances even in his late thirties, and the bulls were team of the 90's and not embarrassing to lose to the bulls everyone fell victim to bulls! making championship is tough as it is and least they had two shots at the championship and that speaks volumes for itself and least they took bulls to six and made in deep and not swept. jazz of course were sad but they have nothing to hate about their consistent play and winning! Malone was the mailman!
@cityhawk
@cityhawk 12 жыл бұрын
There's never a question about Malone's talent, but you have to admit that when it came to big spots, he had psychological blocks. You take a look at the end of Game 6, Malone makes the basket, and the Jazz put the Bulls up against the ropes. But, what did he do, in the typical Malone fashion, he's scared to be decisive and allowed Jordan to make the steal, allowing him to seize the moment. It's the true legends find a way to step up when it mattered most; Jordan, Bird, Magic, West, and Russell.

West never beat the best either...He lost to the Celtics every time and then finally got his ring with Wilt against the Knicks who they lost to two other times in the finals...One can only be so lucky and get so many shots at one team(being that it was a small league) and still constantly lose to that one team...West if he played in our era would be 1.ringless 2.less finals appearances 3. Not nicknamed Mr.Clutch because in our modern age we reserve such nicknames for "Multiple Time Champions"

why is tim duncan not a center. centers guard him, he guards centers. he's seven feet. he's taller and bigger than just about everyone who's played beside him other than the admiral. why does barkley acknowledge him as the best pf ever when he's really the 12 best center ever.

He was a coward who picked his battles and liked being the star on a team unpressured to win titles. The dominant power forwards Malone faced don’t talk a whole lot about him getting in their faces, but weaker ones like Elden Campbell & AC Green did. He taunted and made choke gestures at those players. He was dirty, as was Stockton, and it did my heart good to see him go ringless. Malone waited until the end of his career to decide ring chasing was important. And in all honesty, had Malone not gotten hurt in the Finals vs Detroit, the Lakers likely win that title. And I do give Malone credit for coming into camp in shape each season.
