He meant in terms of educating them about himself. If you believe you're a leader, educate the masses as to why they should believe you're a leader rather than just getting upset because people question your leadership. Tell them hey I do xyz. This that and the other. The default for a player in the NBA isn't that he's a leader until proven otherwise. You have to PROVE your leadership. KD hasn't proven it. We're not taking away from him. We're just not giving him praise that he hasn't earned. He's earned all the praise about being a great player. All time scorer. One of the best players of all time. And he's given that respect and credit all the time. He simply hasn't earned the right to be called a top tier leader.

@kingnovi9404 I believe people get confused. If you have that personality, players have to see you as the leader. Not to mention Tim duncun had Gregg pop and players that seen him that way. That's similar to steph not kd. KD cant be compared to steph and tim duncan, find someone else to make your point because its not valid. Honestly the coach is the leader. But when you play as the best player, for the same team (long time), people consider the team yours like the face of the team, they may see you that way and fall in line. Of course I'm only speaking to players with the personality as kd "lead by example" (Lebron is different). We keep confusing best player as leaders. There should be a distinction. I don't believe kawi has ever been a leader of the team. I actually see pg as the leader, not kawi (even though kawi's the best player literally leading them to victory). Hope I made since....

SAS killed it at the end. Often JJ is on point in calling out bs. Which is important. And he called what he THOUGHT was bs this time as well. Which is good. But SAS was totally correct. We judge what we see, and KD's leadership didn't reach the level of LeBron, Magic, or Curry. He COULDN'T galvanize his players like the top tier leaders could. Leading by example is important which KD does in terms of putting in work, but that's only one component of it. All the other great leaders spared no effort in their work. But they were able to galvanize their players on TOP of that. KD doesn't get more respect as a leader because he hasn't EARNED that respect. As they say, respect is earned. We're not taking anything away from KD. But you need proof to ADD to someone's resume, and KD didn't provide that proof.

Was it the players job is to give the reporter's as little as possible to spin, right? Your job, a sports reporter's is to educate the audience on what's going on in that sport, right? Not spin a narrative to drive up mess and confusion. Maybe that's the real problem.

Jj was apologizing for K.d Lack of leadership. Kd said himself when got to GOLDEN STATE " He just wants to hoop" so he joined team where he didn't have to lead. AND AT BROOKLYN it didn't work out, whole thing collapsed. Kyrie said they don't need coach, KD co-signed. Was a whole lot that showed lack of leadership especially joining team u lost to after being up 3-1. Leadership requires more than skills and making shots. KD STILL ONE OF ONE AND ELITE

Stephen a is right, jj would defend a player no matter what they did
@semi654410 ай бұрын
That just isn't true. He didn't defend Zion. JJ tells it how it is on a lot of players. Zion went to Duke and was a teammate for a short time. So, it should have been harder to be so strict on him. JJ does take the player side a majority of the time but as a former player, their mindsets are more similar than the mindset of a pure media member like Mad Dog or Steven A.

Stephen A is not at all interested in having a serious conversation that educates people about the game. His entire livelihood is dependent on the "men yelling at each other about sports" genre. There is a market for serious conversations about the complexities of the game with the best players in the league (which is why they all have podcasts now which we all listen to) but Stephen A is utterly surplus to that conversation.

JJ Reddick, I like you but you talking nonesense!!!!! KD is friend so He is Biaised - He is not objective!!!! That's why he is not qualified to educate us about criticizing Basket ball players!! Steven A is qualified cause he is objective and roasted everyone! Noone is questioning Durant no being a Good Player!! He is but no Leader! Before he went to Golden State, they were winning and When he left the Golden States they Still WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Leader doesn't go for what makes him happy. He prioritizes what makes his team happy, Durant is pursuing happiness at the expenses of his teammates? He's no leader! He's an amazing player though! Right now is the time for him to prove that he a leader. He's the experienced player on a young team... Lead them to victory and we'll open the debate of you being a leader! LEbron left the cavs, went to Miami, won titles, came back to the cavs, won a title the went to the Lakers, won a title... That's a Leader but not like the REAL LEADERS JORDAN (evemn tho I think LBJ > Jordan) and Curry who stayed on their Team to win titles!!!

JJ needs to not be a tool. Bro they aren’t going to call you a hero if you take their side. KD isn’t a leader period end of story. No one questions his greatness or accomplishments they question his ability to lead the a team to a championship. He hasn’t done that. Steph was the leader on the Warriors. Ky was the leader on the Nets. Currently on the Suns it’s a question mark. Id say Booker is but idk if he’s ready for that responsibility.
