We do not even know if he will take less. he knew that the Lakers only have a small window to get someone good for the MLE if he opts out, and he already said he will take the full max if they cannot sign someone there, which is VERY likely to happen. I am sure this is the same level of smokescreening which they also did with the interest in the other coach which also was not realistic and JJ was pretty much already decided upon behind closed doors. Lebron will probably take the max, and he will screw them over even more by doing that. He has been a liability on defense for the past 4 seasons and it won't get better, rather it will get worse. Lakers are out of any realistic contention for as long as that man stays with the Lakers. I am sure he knows that these years coming up will just be a circus for him to have his wish granted and to grab as much money as he can before he rides into the sunset without having any chance at another title.

They'll be healthier, added a few nice pieces, and the West was weakened (KCP to Orlando, PG to Philly). The only threats behind them that you could say significantly upgraded are NO (Dejounte Murray) and Memphis (healthy JA), but I don't really trust that Ja or Zion will be on the court They should easily be a 5-8 seed unless Bron/AD are missing 25+ games and Reddick is truly not fit for the job
