Exactly! This doesn’t take away from the Isaiah being one of the best PG’S of all time but he rubbed them the wrong way. I dislike that most of these guys can’t own up or just say they didn’t want him on the team. He disrupts their chemistry that summer and they knew they didn’t need him to win. He had fault in that.

To be fair though, Michael Jordan never said "don't put Isiah Thomas on the team". He gave Rod the choice, ala "I won't play if Isiah is on the team". In other words, "it's either me or him, you choose". As opposed to "I'm on the team, don't you dare put Isiah on the team". There's a big difference.

It appears Jordan's recorded statement in 2011, is the opposite of what he said in Last Dance. But, given that many in the NBA, and on the Dream Team, thought the Pistons style of play was bad for basketball, why would the Coach of that Pistons team, that helped orchestrate that style of play, be on the Dream Team? That doesn't make sense to me. And if I'm Daly, I don't take that opportunity. If i was part of creating that style of physically dangerous style of play, and my best player is taking the blam for it, and is excluded from the Dream Team, I'm excluding myself. What's upsetting still, is for years, because of ratings perhaps, the NBA higher ups allowed it. That style of dangerous play, the NBA higher ups should not have allowed. And if the other Dream Teamers thought Pistons Basketball was bad for the game, no Pistons, Coaches and Players, should have been on the Dream Team.

Roflol. These people are pathetic. Last dance documentary quote "I said who's all playing... The guy you are thinking of isn't going". Who do you think that was referring to? Doesn't matter how it came across the obvious fact was made on the documentary. Mike wasn't playing if Thomas was playing. That being said, why is there blame going around? If it were the other way around, do you think anyone was going to leave Jordan off the team to make sure Thomas had a spot? What is obvious and clear is that the selection process favored Jordan over Thomas. Thomas and you journalists crying over it and trying to find a story makes no difference. It is what it is. There is no blame to go around here. There is no story here. Stop being dramatic

For those of us who witnessed the ascent of the Detroit Pistons from a mediocre team to a championship team realize that Isiah Thomas played a significant role in it. However, even though we cheered our home town heroes we knew that they adopted an "by all means necessary" as a tactic and did not rely on pure capability and talent. When Detroit eventually became champions it was not because they were indeed the best team or the most talented team, but because they were the team that would do everything necessary to win including dirty tactics. They knew it and we as fans knew it, but did not really care. Those who love the game knew that Isiah Thomas was a tremendously gifted talent and yet he knew that he had to rely on everyone pushing themselves to the limits to bring a championship to Detroit. So their triumph was that of their will and their willingness to adopt "by all means necessary" attitude. In retrospect the Pistons should admit that they adopted those tactics and have a little more class especially for players like Bill Lambeer. He in particular needs to refine his outlook as a human being. Isiah Thomas should have been included in the so-called "Dream Team" because he was talented despite what he did with his teammates to win a championship. Perhaps it an indictment of American sport culture that allows for dirty tactics to flourish rather than effort, talent and determination. Unfortunately, neither the very talented Isiah Thomas nor Michael Jordan can truly fathom how destructive some of their actions were in their pursuit of championship and the perspective of the human spirit. You can be great without destroying other human beings or make enemies of them. It is when you can win them over that you become great.

What are you talking about. They were physical so what. Rodman was physical as a book but that's cool because he's a bull. All the players did it. Just the pistons did it better. I watched their game. Everybody does what your saying mj, Larry a many more. It's apart of the game. Breaking your opponents down. Pistons just did it better. Mj did it his whole career. But that's cool because he's a scoring maniac. Guard him stop him. Triple team him. Smother the offense. It's all legal. As lso look up the basketball definition of dirty because cause I don't think you understand what it means. You make it sound like they were cheating.

The Dream Team doc didn't go into that much depth either. They kinda danced around it, showing footage of Chuck Daly basically saying "Isiah is a great player, and I'm sure he's hurt by it... but he wasn't selected."... The only one in that doc who outright said he didn't want Isiah on the team was Scottie Pippen. When asked if Michael wanted Zeke on the team, Scottie said, "I don't wanna speak for Michael, but I don't think he wanted him on the team". The book about the Dream Team that came out a few years ago went into more depth. While Michael was probably the end-all, be-all, other members weren't exactly welcoming either. Bird and Isiah had been rivals in the East; Magic & Isiah had a falling-out; Karl Malone definitely wasn't a fan of his. End of the day, Michael was the one the higher-ups wanted, and prioritized him. If Zeke was on the team, that never would've happened. It sucks, but that's just the case.

We need another 10 part documentary with another perspective on the last dance. ESPN should go for it, a lot of money can be made.

If you really think about it, Jordan said he wouldn't play if Isiah Thomas is on the team, but he never said he didn't want Isiah Thomas on the Dream Team. Rod Thorn could have put Isiah on the team and Jordan would have just not played.

In Magic Johnson's documentary he said that, he was the one that kept Isaiah Thomas from the dream tream. Sure, there was more other decision makers. But Magic was a bigger influence then MJ. Isaiah is like alittle mouse.

@Oasis people over react like they are Zeke' wife or his btch trying to bring up 30+ years Dream Team story.. Its not like history will change and Zeke will be included in the team if they keep on ranting. Media specially MJ haters causes toxicity by brainwashing people twisting facts so they can only sell like the infamous 3-6 mafia media LeSPN 🤣🤣🤣

You know what, Magic did get rid of Norm Nixon, so he could be the point guard, just after the Lakers beat the 76ers. And the coach. Facts and Politics! Mic'20 PS but I guess that small compare to the Olympics.

Karl Malone was talking about Magic and his HIV behind his back and saying ignorant things about it in the media. That didn’t keep Malone off the team. MJ didn’t want Zeek on the team because Isiah is only one year older and his record against Jordan is 37-16. That’s really why. But of course Jordan would never admit it.

This just showed up in my recommended videos in KZbin recently. I emphasize that I am not an expert in basketball/NBA, but I did watch that 80s & 90s era. I do know that I don't think anyone among the 11 NBA players on that Dream Team wanted Isaiah to be a part of the team. Michael's opinion on the matter is just highlighted because he has always been transparent about how he felt about Zeke. The others weren't talking to the press about how they felt about Zeke, but anybody could tell they are not comfortable with him. Also, I just want to put it out there... NOT shaking someone's hand/hands after losing a game is a big deal. Zeke & the Pistons were very unsportsmanlike by doing that. I don't think I've ever seen a losing team in the professional level doing that other than them. It was also significant because the Pistons were the defending champions at that time. I mean, a championship caliber team like that acting like kids when they end up not being able to defend their crown??? That's just horrible2x attitude. If I were the NBA commissioner at that time, I would have stripped them of their 1990 championship title. It doesn't matter who Zeke and the Pistons did it to-- whether it was the Bulls or the team with the worst record, you just don't do stuff like that as a professional team. So, NO. IT WASN'T A LITTLE THING. If you can consider that a little thing, well I guess the generation today have just really gone to the dogs.

I could care less about all this but how is it in contrast? He said he didn’t have anything to do with him not being on the team. The other audio just emphasizes that by saying that the decision was made by other people in spite of Michael’s opinions.

The problem isn’t that Jordan didn’t want Isaiah on the team. It’s that he lies about it instead of being a stand-up guy and admitting it. He should own his actions. If you want to be considered the GOAT, then you man up and accept the good, bad, and ugly of who you are and what you’ve done.
