Usman is the man period If there is anyone out there who dislikes Usman’ ‘understand this’ the man has a 100% takedown defense in all the fights he’s has had in the UFC. And the man stays improving on his overall fight repertoire even though he’s been the Champ for a good grip already. He’s taking chances instead of fighting the safest fight for himself if he strictly chose to wrestle constantly overwhelming his opponents in not only his wrestling skills in MMA , but cardio to boot that wouldn’t fail him both mentally and physically. You have to salute that no matter how you may feel about him right or wrong. I personally think you’re wrong for disliking him full stock as that is just plain dumb. 🤣

MMA fans would love the exposure from mainstream sports personalities. The problem is when those sports personalities know nothing about the sport. Imagine if Stephen A had only watched 5 basketball games in his life and part of his job was to comment on basketball games. He’d embarrass himself, just like he does when he talks MMA. Stephen A is perfectly capable of learning MMA enough to comment on it confidently without having to say “I don’t know anything about MMA but I have eyes.” He’s rich, he’s got a team of writers and producers around him, and he’s got access to all of the fighters. The man needs to hire some coaches to consult with, spend some time in the gym, and review footage with experts so he can up his game as a commentator. There’s a reason he frustrates MMA fans and MMA sports personalities. He’s a smart dude that could spend a little time learning about the sport, and he hasn’t felt the need despite this being his job.
@joshuamckeever16213 жыл бұрын
@@austinherrington7049 what else is there to learn about MMA other than fight styles, the training, and the fighters themselves etc? Sure there's the revenue & business side of it like all of the other sports. While I understand your argument for MMA fans the points you laid out about mainstream media doesn't fit Stephen A Smith who is a career & expert journalist. He takes pride in doing his due diligence in covering all sports. If you want a guy covering your sport Stephen A is one of the most qualified to do so. He doesn't say anything different to what fans already know about the sport. I myself believe that sports fans get to hyped up against journalists assuming they don't know a thing about the sport because they don't cover them most of the time. However, these journalists work in these studios that cover these sports. I'll take they'll knowledge over just an average fans knowledge.

The criticism there was that Burns is a grappler. Burns has some KOs but striking is not his background like say Wonderboy. Also Burns moved up from lightweight. Same reason Adesanya couldn't beat Blachowicz in LHW.

Jon Jones can't maintain p4p spot with inactivity. Especially when you have big names getting knocked out cold in his absence. You can think Jones is the goat, but on an active ranking system, we'll have to see his next performance and see where he stands on p4p. It's about activity not legacy.

Usman's not goat bruh. He's too big for welterweight and is really a middleweight. That's why his Twitter username is 84 kg(185 pounds) Usman's 3rd pro mma fight was fought at 180. GSP fought guys bigger than him and was a legit welterweight size. Usman and Jones cut too much to fight below their weight class. Usman's first and only loss was his second fight to a low ranked opponent in the first round. GPSs first loss was challenging for the title after being 7-0 in mma. GSP still holds the record for the most takedowns in UFC history at Usman's age 33 and he isn't even a wrestler.
