When Jim Harbaugh took over at Michigan, he gave two options to those who skipped class: 2am study session with coach, or 4am conditioning. Good to see coaches still making school a priority for student athletes.

I love that the professor threw in the "when he is here he is kind and respectful" before saying all the negative stuff as well. Some people just dont wont to learn, which is fine we are all humans with flaws. But still being respectful in that moment goes along way in how you will be treated back.

In college I worked at the football practice facility of a major power 5 school. Mind you going in I was a lifelong fan of this team, so I thought they could do no wrong. Oh boy how my opinion changed. After 2 years working in this facility I learned one thing, 80-90% of the athletes who walked through those doors felt like the entire campus should worship the ground they walked on. Therefore they acted as such, not paying attention in class, trashing their locker room, and showing no respect to me or my coworkers.. amongst other things. And that lack of accountability and discipline showed up on the field, as they failed to meet expectations year after year. So when I tell you I LOVE seeing this I mean it. Because too many of these college athletes are allowed to skate by without any consequence, and therefore learn nothing while in college. So props to coach Prime, he’s setting ALL of his players up for success.. whether they become professional football players, teachers, or doctors. Keep it up!

I've had group projects made way harder than they needed to be because I got a football or basketball player in my group.
@baronvonslambert
@baronvonslambert 6 күн бұрын
Which is a good reason why group projects should never be given and it should be mandated all class work should be individual. It's not even just because of athletes. Group work does not take into account the lives of the members of the group or the situations they find themselves in. For example, in middle and high school I had parents that would lets just say treat me badly if I inconvenienced them, and that treatment could last weeks or months for a single minor inconvenience. If ample class time wasn't given for projects and we were expected to do them outside of class, it was not in my best interest to participate, because picking me up after they got off work before I had a car was an inconvenience, and since I lived half an hour outside of town it was an inconveniece to the other kids parents to give me a ride home. When I did get a car of my own, I was working after school until 11pm or midnight nearly everyday to pay for it, making it almost impossible to find time to get together for projects.
@KSmith-kp5jz
@KSmith-kp5jz 5 күн бұрын
@@baronvonslambert Exactly. I understand the benefits of group work, but anything that requires students to meet out of class is begging for issues. I hated when teachers would casually be like “so you’ll have to meet outside of class with your group members.” Are you driving me, miss? I take the bus for a reason. My parents work during the day. So and so lives with his elderly gramma: she’s not driving anyone anywhere. Then you meet at your group partner’s house and you have to listen to his parents’ marital disputes. If you’re gonna mandate group work, at least have it be done in class.

Didn’t his own son just a few months ago say he has never attended a class at Colorado? I watched the interview. He’s very much sneering at the idea that classes are even remotely necessary for him to play football. That’s why even when Prime says very good things, its very hypocritical. His son will get drafted so the advice in this lecture dosnt apply to him. I just don’t know how to take serious a man that says one thing and allows another to take place right in front of him.

So many people here are so naive. Deion Sanders cares about one thing and one thing only: Winning for his own sake and ego. Chewing out his players to keep them in class, and therefore in school and on the team is just one way he accomplishes that goal.

I'm a 43 year old graduate student at an SEC school. I usually wind up with 3-4 college athletes in every class (online). Sometimes football, some baseball, equestrian, softball, whatever... Every one of those kids have been the best students, best classmates, and best leaders with NO exceptions. Their schedules are insanely difficult at times, but they always persevere. It is pretty impressive to witness.

I’m sure he understands that many of his opportunities outside of ball and celebrity related money grabs are limited because he didn’t take his education seriously. I've been a fan of Deion since I was a kid growing up in Tallahassee watching him play at Doak. His haters don't understand him. At all. He has a huge heart, and his cockiness is always relegated to the sport. He is actually very humble when it comes to real life. In sport, on the field, there is nothing bigger than Deion. He commands the spotlight and then 9/10 times he delivers. But in life he recognizes that there is something much bigger than him. If I had a son I would be honored for him to play under Coach Prime.
