100% Rees is the main issue. How do you have an athlete like Milroe and not try to run some kind of triple option / play action offense. Do some boot legs to move to pocket? Nothing being done to adjust to the roster and just trying to fit a square peg through a round hole.

@deronthomas1566

He’s 100% in over his head. Ty Simpson’s first collegiate attempt was on 2nd & long inside the red zone after a TFL. He lines up in twins left, runs some play, we get 7. Then goes drop back pass for a sack. 3rd and 8 he then simply flips the first down play, same formation, same personnel, exact same play for an incompletion. I mean same splits, same formation! Now if I can recognize that, you know DC’s are watching as well as the players on the field.

@@JJDSports2012 agreed, but Nelson and mcglinchy didn’t play under Rees. They both went to the NFL in 2018 and Rees didn’t become OC until 2020. That’s definitely characteristic of Kelly’s offenses though. Even when they ran the ball a lot in those years they still couldn’t pick up 3rd and short.

Milroe is a great athlete and a fantastic young man but every team we play is going to load the box like Texas did if he is the QB. With Simpson, at least teams will have to respect the pass, which in turn will open up the run game. Of course all this is irrelevant if the O-line cannot block anyone. Respect the pass with Simpson? USF didn’t respect the pass. Roydell Williams saved Bama. USF had 5 sacks, all against Simpson. 4 sacks was on him holding on to the ball. One sack was on Proctor getting beat. When protection broke down Milroe used his legs to make plays. Milroe made both teams he faced pay with the deep ball. Coach Saben praised his team afterwards since he well knew the press was going to be all over them this week. I have never played a down in football but I have spent a long life time staying in good condition and the offensive line did not impress me at all. While it may be true that the line can all bench press five hundered and allegedly squat close to a thousand that doesn't impress someone who has seen body builders who walk around nearly as strong and in far better condition than these guys could ever hope to be even though the bodybuilders probably took far more anabolic drugs than did/does these Alabama Football players; but, that said, the offensive live appeared to me to be slow, awkward, and fat! They were constantly being out manuvered by defensive players over a hundred pounds lighter yet much more flexible, agile, and faster. Our offensive line at this point in time is, in a word, terrible! I know Mississippi is coming to Tuscaloosa but we are about to find a defense much better than we are expecting and with an offense with plays we have never seen. This Mississippi coach has come awfully close to beating Coach Saben too many times in the past, and this version of Coach Saben does not appear to the of the same material as the Saben was ten years ago. In my opinion we desperately need a Scott Cochran now, now more than ever. I well know of Scott's past problems although it has been a long time since I last had a chat with him, but even then he was impressed with the Chinese Olympic Lifting Weighting Team as I was and still am! What we need is a strength coach that his been trained in China since I read, write, and speak Chinese as well as having been in bodybuilding training now since even before Arnold and Franco arrived in the United States, that would not be the issue with me. The issue with me of course is that I am no longer young; and, neither is coach Saben!

Pretty sure Saban told Rees that he is not implementing his own offence. Saban told him to adapt to Alabama’s offence. Rees definitely overplayed his hand by leaving ND and should be fired after one year but Saban should take most of the blame.

There is a VERY easy way to understand what Saban was doing with the QBs. This is a true coaching move. Saban knew his 2 backup QBs were not the answer, yet people like Paul continue questioning Saban's decision making. SO.... he took a game he knew they could win regardless of QB play and SHOWED YOU why Milroe was the choice. Once that happened, he was easily able to reinsert Milroe into the role without people questioning the choice. I am always shocked how people listen to guys like these guys. Now a few weeks later how ridiculous does this conversation in this video sound? lol

The only 2 problems that Alabama has are the OL and the need to find a good QB. Everything else is fixable. I liked what I saw from Ty Simpson on Saturday. He came in as the backup and needed a few snaps to get into rhythm. He should be the starter going forward. Remember Trevor Lawrence also had quite a few so-so games as a freshman before he figured it all out and started dominating the game. Ty will continue to grow and eventually figure it all out.

LSU lost in week 1 to a great Florida State team on the road (probably the 3rd best team in the country) based on one bad half of defense (the first half LSU was up at halftime). Since then they are playing completely different set of RBs, have Maason Smith back at tackle and have figured some things out on defense. Just curb-stomped Mississippi State on the road without multiple starters. They are very much a different team than week 1. I can see LSU and Ole Miss both beating Bama, so the LSU/Ole Miss game in two weeks could be the one deciding the SEC West and who will face Georgia.
