The first quarter of the game was not “embarrassing”. As coaches age, I think they aren’t as formidable. Their attention to detail probably wanes. Their sharpness in all facets of what is needed to be excellent wanes. You can’t help it. It takes a tremendous amount of energy to replicate what Nick Saban has done in the 2010s. When you are in your 70s and you’ve already accomplished more than anyone else in the sport, I can imagine it’s hard to keep the fire inside you lit.

It's kjust a complkicated story, and most sports fans aren't capable of thinking it through. Colorado has made a HUGe leap in quality in one season, and that is an important story. but as far as their play, they a re a team without film to study. But each week they give teams more info to prepare. That doesn't mean they will fail, it just means there is a lot more to watch. And really, how they respond to this game will also tell a lot. Their ranking doesn't really matter becasue this season has started in comlete chaos, so it seems the press has no clue how to cover college football anymore. But I think they are getting ranked too quick. And what Deion seems to be doing is a form of Moneyball, but like the A's, may find it hard to contnue to compete when the big dogs adopt their strategies for building roster. They don't need to win a NC to have really changed the landscape of college football, in part becasue fans are now going to expect their teams to do the same instead of clutching their pearls.
