Nagelsmann will not change his playstyle according to the opponent like Guardiola often did before he finally won the CL, he wont let his team play on counter from start. Germany will want to play the way they are used to and that is via ball possession therefore the war for the ball will be all over in the midfield and at some point before the half time it will be deceided by which team will have the ball and which team will have to settle for a counter playing style.

Croatia weren't that bad 1:35. They created a lot of chances, xG total of 6.55, the most out of all teams in the group stage, and were minutes away from qualifying.
