Helloooo everybody.
Today we are going back to basics and breaking down essences and serums! What are they? Are they the same thing?? Why should you use them, how should you use them and what is the best serum / essence for oily skin, dry skin, combination skin and acne prone skin.
Serums and essences usually pack some pretty powerful ingredients.
With anti-agin properties and a whole list of benefits in serums, they are considered to be the most important part in a lot of peoples skincare routines.
In this series, we will be breaking down
Cleanser
Toner
Exfoliator
Essence
Serum
Eye Cream
Moisturiser
SPF : www.youtube.co....
Oils
Face masks ( clay mask, sheet masks, over night masks )
and other skincare treatments. (vitamin C etc )
As always, leave all questions for me down below :)

I love how every video you say "...sometimes hair...." You clearly don't want to do it, you've said it's boring. Do what you want, man. If something jumps out, nothing's stopping you from doing a hair video when you want, but you're not obligated to in any way.

Just finished going through this little list, and omg is this (and your other videos) so helpful. I honestly didn't really care about my skin care until one of your videos popped up in my youtube feed one day, and I can honestly say that you've inspired me to give it a go! I even just passed your channel along to some coworkers of mine who were talking about some skin issues they were having, like uneven texture and wrinkles, because you discuss all of these things. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and passion for skin care! You've definitely helped it to feel like it's much more approachable.

Hmm my biggest issue with my skin used to be acne but lately I've pretty much fixed it completely. Not really sure what other "issues" to target, if any. I don't really know what "brightening" even means, but I guess anti-aging would be a good thing to target. The idea of adding more products to my routine just sounds like an expensive hassle though. First world problems I guess huh?

Try using niacinamide at night if you have pigmentation issues because many researches say don’t combine vitamin c with niacinamide and you need vitamin c for protection against sun damage so bit c for day and niacinamide at night but again it’s your choice

Ugh, having rosacea and super dry, dehydrated, sensitive skin is so frustrating! I want to be able to test skincare products properly and get the purported benefits of them, but I'm so anxious about how my skin is going to react to everything. My moisture barrier is probably shot to hell, and I'm going to focus on the most basic, minimal routine with minimal ingredients to restore it before I try to incorporate additional products.
@RS-pe1ft
@RS-pe1ft 5 жыл бұрын
I have similar issues! I have slightly dry, SUPER sensitive skin with rosacea. My skin reacts to everything! I have had acne since I was 15, which led to the development of acne scars on my cheeks and chin. My biggest issue has always been redness and irritation though. This is my new skincare routine, and it has been working wonders! Like you, I always avoided using too many products, but now I found that this routine is what has cured my acne, reduced my acne scars, and eliminated the redness and irritation in my cheeks and temples. Morning: Body Shop Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser Lush Breath of Fresh Air Toner Tamanu oil spot treatment(on acne scars) Body Shop Aloe day cream Beet the Sun sunscreen Night: Aloe calming cream cleanser If I choose to use a regular mask(about twice a week) I will use either the BB Seaweed(Lush) face mask, Oatifix(Lush) face mask, or Body Shop’s Almond Milk and Oats face mask Breath of fresh air toner Body Shop’s Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil Tamanu oil spot treatment Drops of youth eye concentrate(Body Shop) Body Shop’s Aloe night cream(+2 drops rosehip oil +1 drop Marula oil) OR body shop’s aloe rescue cream mask(+ 2 drops rosehip oil + 1 drop Marula oil If you get anything from this list, I would recommend the Aloe Rescue Cream Mask and the Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser

Yes. Hey James. Good day to you. I am wondering if you can help me with a serum related problem 😁. So I bought The Body Shop Drops of Light serum to help even out my skin tone. I had used the Drops of youth serum and that made my skin really smooth and supple so I was fairly confident about the drops of light. But, it really irritated my skin. Like, I got small bumps - like mini pimples - which went away after I discontinued its use. So I looked it up and everyone else were raving about it. Would you know what might have been the reason it didn't work for me? Is there any way I can salvage it ? Modify it someway so it's not totally wasted ? I have sensitive combination skin. dry cheeks and semi-oily T zone. Below are the ingredients in the drops of light serum : Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, PEG-20, Methyl Gluceth-20, Alcohol Denat., 3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Hydrolyzed Soy Flour, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Rosa Centifolia Extract/Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Palmaria Palmata Extract, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, Salicylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Fragrance. TIA !

I got the same reaction as well! I was never acne-prone but when i used that serum, my skin became horribly bumpy! I suggest u ditch it. I know it’s costly but all these unnecessary ingredients are not needed for the skin.

I guess hydrogenated Castor oil might be the culprit.

Would a serum work after getting dark spots from my acmes even though I haven’t popped them at all ? Also do you think that using this serum you have recommended will revitalize my skin and make it spot and dark spot free and leave me with the best possible skin I can have ? plus I live in London where exactly can I buy that serum ?

4:17 is that how much you're supposed to use? I've been following the instructions where it says to use 3 to 5 drops but what a joke to cover a guy's face with that. How long do 1 oz bottles last for typical guys? Ok maybe not typical I'm 6'5 with large face.

Is it ok to use the Missha essence if we use vitamin c serum during the day? Missha has niacinamide in it which shouldn't be used together, right? I don't see anyone mentioning this. Please answer, somebody =/

You should be able to use it tgt. Niacinamide generally goes well with everything. What u hear abt them not matching comes from the ordinary niacinamide. Their formulation reduces the effect of vit c. Other than that, as long as the brand does not say anything on their site, u are good to go.

what about SK2??? It cost way way more than the Missha but I was told they work the same.
@yc2557
@yc2557 5 жыл бұрын
they work pretty much the same except you can get the result a little more quickly and clearly with sk2 but missha is more hydrating. If youre rich go for sk2 but considering the price my broke ass highly recommends missha and to use it like a toner(wipe your face with cotton pads. I think it gets rid of my dead skin cells that way) Btw they also have ampoule in purple bottle in the same time revolution something line and this one is like estee lauder's night repair but better, not even considering the price. Thicker and more glowing and kinda feels like my skin is coated.

What’s the difference between face essence and a facial mist?
@JamesWelsh
@JamesWelsh 6 жыл бұрын
Hey! Usually the essence is just how I explain in this video. But face mists are more of a toner alternative! So like toners, they can balance PH and add hydration but they are often specialised for certain skincare concerns to :)
