I did find Essenger through Scandroid/FiXT and fell in love. It's unique. I noticed on some of the songs, people mentioned how he moved into Synthwave and a lot of people really liked it. I looked at some his older works, which do stand out as well, but I feel After Dark is probably his best. He has a talent I think in this area and should expand on it with using a synthesizer as his main element. That added with his voice. Like recently he worked on a cover for Kavinski's Nightcall. Which was great! This is a bit biased because I grew up loving cyberpunk and synthwave music. Although after this review, I want to really now listen and understand what each song means. I also love EDM and wish I found this place sooner.

This is a strong 8 for me. It's a very solid record that really pushes boundaries in the synthwave realm. I also really liked the metal elements woven into tracks like Half Life, although Lost Boys felt a little stale and lyrically monotonous to me. The only real issues with this album for me is that some of the tracks dont really go anywhere to me - Offworld gets a great groove going but doesn't do much with it, and ICROMM was a nice interlude but feels a little pointless- I would have preferred a full proper song. Additionally, the story is vague at times - a vague story can work well (Life in Boxes does it excellently), but here I was sometimes struggling to figure out what was going on. Also, Downfall is BY FAR my favourite track on this album - I respect your opinion, but I was genuinely baffled when you listed it as your least favourite. The lyrics contain far more depth than the other songs of the album, The production is absolutely menacing, but beatiful at the same time, and Lexi's vocal hit all the right spots for me - it's easily in my top 5 favourite songs of the year so far. 8/10 Favourites: Downfall, After Dark, Half Life, Exopolitan, Empire of Steel, Blood Moon Least Favourites: Lost Boys
