The Essex class was a class of standard carriers of the United States Navy that constituted the 20th century's most numerous class of capital ships. The class consisted of 24 vessels, which came in "short-hull" and "long-hull" versions. Thirty-two ships were originally ordered, but as World War II wound down, six were canceled before construction, and two were canceled after construction had begun. No Essex-class ships were lost to enemy action, despite several vessels sustaining very heavy damage. The Essex-class carriers were the backbone of the U.S. Navy's combat strength during World War II from mid-1943 on, and, along with the addition of the three Midway-class carriers just after the war, continued to be the heart of U.S. naval strength until the supercarriers began to come into the fleet in numbers during the 1960s and 1970s.

Essex and Ticonderoga both bare their Eagle Union Flags on their defaulth skin. Essex is the Flagship of the class while Ticonderoga was the Flagship of a different classification of the essex class, the long-hulled Essex class. This may show us that both of this shipfus are both 'leaders' respectively.

Fun fact too that is often missed out about Shangri la. she was the testbed for USN/USMC carrier takeoff/ landing capable modified B-25s, designated as the PJB-1s. Other than her sharing a namesake with Hornet, this is the reason why they have a similar offensive skill.

Honestly I like all of them! The only one I am missing is Bunker Hill. I do have a weird affection towards them in a sense, because I am a Vietnamese, and my grandpa fought for the south. I can never be grateful enough towards those girls for saving as much people as possible. Its also maybe the reason why I love making Eagle Union ships as well! And even if it took an eternity, then I will still wait for Yostar to add USS Midway in!

1. Did you get intrepid? 2. You forgot mentioning bunker hill plane but up to you well you know some of extra info.. 3. And also both BH and Ticonderoga share same VA Ichinose Kana aka VA for sayu in higehiro 4. Jolyn in JoJo stone ocean VA by Ai fairouz, VA for Intrepid 5. Quick fact, most of ship mention another ship actually be available soon cause it was confirmed by dev themselves, for example like akashi mention kashino in her Secretary line

Ticonderoga is my favorite of the Essex-class so far! I maxed LB her to get access to Anchorage, but Ticonderoga is still in my fleet and a perma as my secretary (best smile and blush ingame, fight me ;^)

Shangri-la is my favorite because that was my great-grandfather's ship. He was her radio operator during WW2. His name was John Walter "Jack" Jones. I've taken the John and Jack from his name to my name. He's my hero and he never talked about the war much but I know she was at Okinawa. If anyone could give me details on her ww2 service I would greatly appreciate it

Here's how I knew the Essex Carriers were special...I had Essex, Intrepid, and Shangri-La in my boss fleet for chapter 13-4 mostly as a joke and to get a few clears in...and that was the pull I got Bunker Hill. *Pretends like I didn't clear 78 times prior* Sadly it doesn't work for Choukai because the Takao sisters get shredded in 12-4.

i knew the Essex class carriers are so special because 26 was actually built, even though 32 was planned. Most was converted into a carrier with the angled deck or became a heli carrier

BTW i just Correct this but Yamato has been sunk at Okinawa while Musashi has sunk at the battle of Leyte Gulf in the Philippines as part of Gen. Douglass McArthur's plan to Liberate the Philippines from the Japanese hands,so Musashi Sunk due to Focus Fire and Bombed and torpedoed Multiple times, same as Yamato at Okinawa

About there being no ship to ship gun battles is actually not true. Washington and South Dakota were the only usn ships in a gun battle in the battle of Guadalcanal. South Dakota’s skill as is Washington’s are both references to that. Washington sunk one ship in the dual scaring off another by damaging it while South Dakota took most the hits from the Japanese battle cruisers.
