Yes, it's a super cool retro fan, plus it's super quiet. It's in my top few favorite fans now, thats for sure. As soon as I saw it, I looked at the price.... $20 and immediately picked it up to purchase, but at checkout it was 30% off day, so I got it for $14.

I did pass on some old C9 twisted glass sets at an estate sale, as they were horribly overpriced, even on the 50% off day..... thats the last sale day typically. I made them an offer, but they would only come down a little bit, so I walked away without them. I bet they get tossed in the garbage!

Great finds! It sure is hard to pass up some vintage lights! Awesome Dayton fan, too. That really turned out nice!

Yes, there were lots of old Westinghouse ceramic coated bulbs in this find. I like the Westinghouse ceramic bulbs as the colors look awesome illuminated. In fact all but a few bulbs are Westinghouse. The fan was a fun find, as it's super retro and extremely quiet. I didn't care if it worked or not, I wanted it due to its retro look. So glad it works..... it's sitting in the living room, where I can enjoy looking at it. It weighs a good amount with that chromed heavy steel motor cover.... maybe 30 or more pounds. Thats why it's so quiet I bet.

I really like that old fan. Also, you always make your place look awesome at Christmas. Maybe those C9s keep your weeping cherry tree warmed up during the snow :-) 👍

I use that fan on my porch when I sit out there to keep the mosquitoes away. It does a great job of blowing them away and the fan is super quiet, so it's not annoying. .

Those classic old lights are so cool. Back when Ge, Westinghouse and Japan made inside paint bulbs have such beautiful colors that today’s bulbs can’t even come close. Too bad they can’t make them anymore. On the green wire set, the sockets can be removed to save if you have another set with the same sockets. On those, the bottom of the sockets have a plug that’s similar shape of the Chevy Bowtie. You just take a small size flat head screwdriver and get it in the seam and gently pry and it will pop out and then the socket can be removed. To put it back on the wire, press the bow tie shaped plug with your thumb and it snaps beak in. I have a few sets of those in both c7 and c9 and I always save those sockets just like the Bakelite ones that are held together with the metal strip. I also have lots of old Christmas lights like you do. A couple of old large trunks full and tons of spare bulbs. I also like the old fan repair and restoration too. That fan is nice and cool looking.

I may save some of the sockets, but I already have hundreds of sockets I saved from other sets. I have maybe two dozen huge plastic tubs full of vintage ceramic coated lamps in C9 and C7. I bet I have a hundred plus sets of new in the box vintage light sets also, not to mention the 20 or so sets I use every Christmas. I bet I have 50 sets without a box, that are good used working sets, so I rarely save poor condition sets anymore. I need to stop buying them, but I can't. I have been buying them whenever I see them for 50 years now......

Classic made in U.S.A. vs modern made in china. I’ll take the quality of old U.S.A. whenever possible. Seems to me that as a kid, just about everybody had a Dayton fan.

I think they made more industrial fans then fans for homes. I know Dayton is very good when it comes to quality. This fan sure is well built and extremely quiet for a 20" fan. My vintage 70's era Kmart 20" box fan I use in the house is much louder...... Maybe I'll use this one in its place.

Would those motors with transformers be DC?
@OldCarAlley4 ай бұрын
No there AC. Back in the day, most two and three speed fans used resistors or transformers for lower speeds. Now days there windings are tapped in different spots in the motor for the different speeds, as its cheaper to manufacture them like that. It's all about cost of manufacturing, not quality!

Does that bead blaster have a moisture trap in the air line?
@OldCarAlley4 ай бұрын
It has three air dryers. One at the compressor, two at the cabinet, one before the pressure regulator and one after. I run my cabinet at 60 psi.
