That bug zapper is way cool! Hey it's great to see you'll have something made in Canada hanging on your garage wall!

I had the vintage zapper in the back garden last evening, It was getting a good workout. I put the blacklight back in it, as it does seem to draw more bugs, plus the regular bulb was kinda annoying in the back garden. There is a bug zap collector group out there, believe it or not..... Anyway, I think it's a great vintage garden item to have around. I'll use it now and then, but won't leave it outside. I don't want to ruin the like new looking fiberglass. The zapper is in amazing shape considering its age. The belt measurement tool will come in very handy. It was originally priced at $50..... got it for $15 on the blowout sale day. I was surprised it hadn't sold by the time I got to the sale. Maybe because it's metric, which is no big deal as most belts have metric measurements now days.

Hello Howard remember that old belt measurer when I was a auto parts manager with a Chrysler dealer in the 70s. It worked out pretty well. You scored well with this deal. Thank you!!!!!

Yeah, it's a neat old tool I will use once in a great while..... plus it will look good on the garage wall, wherever I find a spot for it. I may have to move things around.

I remember when most old school parts stores used those to measure belts, this was before the proliferation of the chain parts stores.

My grandparents had a similar styled Bug Zapper hanging in their Burt,MI garage during summers when I was growing up. It was similar, except there’s featured a cream colored Bakelite Louvered-style full protective grille. I think it was open on the bottom but it may have had a base. I’ve never seen another one like it, but this one is close. They are attracted to both the heat & IR light, so an incandescent/fluorescent black light would work best over low-heat LEDs. Cool find!

Yes, after some use outdoors at night, it does attract more bugs with a blacklight. The LED bulb works great. I have a couple florescent blacklight bulbs, maybe I'll try one of them. I can't find my incandescent blacklight and I don't plan on buying one either. Eventually I'll find it. It's an oldie from the 70's, still in its original packaging, so I may not use it even if I do run across it. I doubt I'll use the old bug zapper much and defiantly won't leave it outdoors.

Wow, Howard, great finds! Those bubble lights sell much more than that online. Still very nice for reproduction bubble lights.

@@OldCarAlley These lights are still sold on Christmas lighting sites for between $8-$10 apiece--for EACH INDIVIDUAL LAMP, of course. You got an *excellent* deal! Jealous!

I had to move the bikes to sweep the floor. I hung it outside the other night. It works very well. Doubt I'll use it much, but its a super retro looking garden item I plan on keeping.

You have an eye for cool vintage stuff! I’m into old and reproduction items myself. It’s fun to have that stuff. I would like to have that vintage bug zapper if you ever want to sell it. Fun video Howard, glad to see your doing well. You still have the ‘59 Chevy. What a cool cruiser.

Yeah.... those bubble lights were a steel. I'm going to a sale in about an hour in Oak Park. There are a bunch of really nice vintage motorcycles that I want to look at. Doubt I'll buy any, as they're all in like new condition, so I bet they're asking top dollar. I still want to look though.
