Ok people! Pay attention! Do you know how a rev limiter works? It cuts spark at a specified rpm. Everything else in the engine is still working, valves are opening and closing, pistons are moving up and down, air is flowing through the motor, and more importantly in terms of the comments on this thread FUEL is still flowing. What happens when unburned fuel/air charges get pumped into a very hot exhaust system? It burns. With sophisticated, electronically controlled, direct injection fuel systems the charge is very small and very atomized. So what you are seeing is unburnt fuel igniting. It's not noticeable on a street bike typically between the lower exhaust system temperatures and large muffler systems with baffles in them. The sparks are not pieces of the engine internals for f#@k's sake!

In addition, when using a quick shifter it's possible to see the same effect as well; when you engage the quick shifter it momentarily cuts the spark to allow a rapid engagement of the gears without the clutch being utilized.

There is no carbon in this engine. It's probably had three tanks of fuel run through it. The combustion chambers are pristine. +toby I was kidding man.........that bike is a freaking monster...that thing could probably kill you in your first ride. i won't' recommend any 1000CC bike for beginners unless you have mad riding skills. H2r is not even street legal, this bike is demon on wheels. equipped with highest rated engine ever to put on a production motorcycle. If you are a below average rider go for entry-level sports bike like ninja300 or cbr250.if you think you are good enough go for a midrange 600cc bike.

They are built to allow enough room for you to tumble to a stop, even then you are messed up. Speed never killed anyone, it's the stop that gets ya
