Great story! And yes, it does look like a military vessel, like a US frigate from afar. I'm actually very impressed however, with your ability to keep your wits about you while talking to marina security and SKAT's captain without becoming "scattered" yourself! Love the channel as always!

Being a crew member yourself, you'd have known enough not to speak up about being in the right with regard to the NDA. And yea, good thing, as you never know if the two captains/owners know each other and are friendly, you could quickly end up w/o a berth, and possibly in a foreign port. But many places do have filming policies, posted... and listed in rental agreements. All depends on the country/municipality you are in, and often how intrusive (or not) you are while flying.

@@WhiteWolf65 In general. land owners only own a small amount of the airspace above the land, so enforcing a no filming policy on drones might be very difficult. Of course, the realpolitik tends to be a bit different. There is a KZbin channel run by a man in the UK who deliberately flies his drone in places which are legal, but where his actions provoke people nearby.

I'm glad you got the video out of the drone before they made you delete it. All your videos are spectacular and this yacht is a standout. Here on the east coast of Australia my son is a drone guy and sends it out up to 5kms for whale watching. He's got some amazing videos but also had some scary moments when the flight back to land is in danger of running out of battery or being attacked by a sea eagle. But the worst experience for a friend of his was spotting a naval ship out past the whale migration lanes, sending the drone higher to check it out and suddenly his transmission stopped. From working perfectly to nothing. His only guess was that the naval ship had either shot him out of the air or blasted him with some sort of jamming system with the same result. A very expensive drone death.

I loved the story and the fact you had sense to transfer the footage immediately. Before Covid I went to a well publicised visit by a celebrity from the BBC. It was in the marketplace and they had a load of private security as well as police. Everyone was taking photos but the private security was doing their best to stand between the celebrity and the people. I could move easily but some elderly ladies at the front couldn't. I told the security guard to get out of the way or I was going to walk past him to take photos. He lifted his hand to stop me so I reminded him he was just another member of the public without any powers and I would call the police across if he put a hand on me. The senior guy saw what was happening, came across, I explained what was happening and he was really good. He moved his security guys so people could get photos.

Great story. Not the same but interesting...When my folks moved to Florida full time, they lived on the Gulf Intercoastal, we had always had a boat on The Great Lakes growing up, so my dad wanted an upgrade. He purchased a brand new 38' Formula, w/2 454's blown, from a marina on the ocean side and they were piloting her back home around the tip of Florida. Starting to get dusk they were entering a marina for the night, my mother noticed police & other emergency vehicles lining the road of the marina but didn't think much of it, until...as she put it "Out of nowhere comes this huge Coast Guard vessel right at us"...with the Captain announcing over a loud speaker for them to stop immediately & prepare to be boarded. They got close enough to speak at regular volume & after several questions, they told them to continue their passage & have a good night. My dad asks "What in the hell was that? I thought you were going to board & you have all this back-up on land (He was angry)!" The Captain tells them they had been tracking them by radar since the initial marina and had they told them anything other than the truth, they'd have boarded them to search for drugs as they were the perfect smuggling operation...middle aged white couple, no listed name on boat yet & being a go-fast. lolol EDIT: My folks at the time looked like Andy Griffith & Aunt B (In Aunt B's early yrs. T'was late 1980's. lol).

Very interesting as always. Totally understandable that the SKAT Captain would be looking out for his people and job. He really didn't know what you had filmed particularly but would want to keep any information from being released.

This vid was so awesome on so many levels....your intro music and graphics treatment were a perfect overlay to make it very mysterious and Mission Impossible-esque. 😂 Then, pretty impressive footage with your brand new Mavic with very few flying hours (back in your beginning days)....I know...almost like the gym, I try and go out and fly at least monthly just to improve my flying skills. Lastly, the integrity of your reporting whereas you are absolutely consistent in your mission statement about this being an info channel about S/Y's not the clients or people. I suspect that is why the other 250K subscribers keep coming back as well. I have no interest into social media noise about the rich and famous....but, you have opened this world just about S/Y's which is really interesting...Plus, E-Man, you are really entertaining in front of the camera and have an un-matched wardrobe for your drops. Bravo!

I would not be at all surprised if some of the Super Yachts are equipped with surveillance equipment or are transporting classified cargo. Until I found your channel, I had no concept of the community of Super Yacht owners and their very secretive nature. Even to the point of hiding the actual owners identity. It's a perfect scenario for clandestine activity.

When you got $,$$$,$$$ seams like laws do not apply to you... That sucks but oh well such is life. I presume that is why the rich keep teams of lawyer's on speed dial LOL.

@@jonathanbair523 They guy with the best lawyer wins. Never mind all that "justice for all" and "fair trial" rhetoric. But I was referring to a more select group of yacht owners that are actually government agents of this or that country. What better place to hide than among a of people that are secretive by nature and commonly travel port to port all over the world? Very few, if any questions are asked about why or why not as long as the required credentials are in order. Is the guest listed as Sammy Something the person he claims to be? I would think that the percentage of this type of activity would be small but environment would certainly lend itself to it.

Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼! Didn't get into trouble and didn't give up the footage. My blabbermouth in the same situation would have probably said, "My NDA only stops me from filming the yacht that I work on, so there 😛 !" and would have landed myself in trouble 😄.

I always believed the rule to be that there is no expectation of privacy in an outdoor space. Just another example of the rich elites thinking they're in their own special class. You handled the situation well and I'm soooo glad you posted this.

I just did a quick internet search for information about regulations applicable to the commercial operation of small unmanned aircraft systems in the Bahamas, and it looks like they are even more restrictive than here in the U.S.! I wouldn't have blamed you if you had decided it wasn't worth the trouble (if you did indeed comply with the Bahamian regulations). Your video turned out beautifully!
