I always prefer hot press finish as well, those look like really fun little blocks--I paint smaller than most folks as it let's me finish work faster, and easier to tote from bed to desk and sofa, etc. , so that's a great block size. You did awesome work with them--I can see those as really fun and special thank you cards! Entertaining and informative, as always, Mark. :)

Thank you, my friend. I appreciate your time watching. Because you enjoy working at a smaller size, these are a great size for that. However, the paper itself may not be what you're used to, as it's not Arches or similar - it's a little different. After just doing one quick piece, I got a feel for what I can do with them. I'd like to execute something more detailed instead of just a quick demo. These will be fun to use and I'm totally happy with them. I hope you are well and always a treat to hear from you! Stay well! ~ Mark

Hi Mark, I missed this and your previous video. I will watch it. I have heard a lot of good things about it, except for when the paper gets old from non-use and the sizing has issues. But mostly, I just read good things.

Hi again! I haven't had the experience of sizing issues, but I did just look at an older book and will say there is definitely a "feel" on the paper, which may be what you're describing. I did some swatching on it and it worked just fine, so perhaps mine is not too old at this point. Unlike myself, whereas I'm getting to be as old as the hills! lol! Cheers to you! ~ Mark

@MDCampbell HI again, Mark. I know the feeling of aging! LOL. I have grandkids who are way more energetic than me. When I get sick nowadays, it feels so much worse than when I was a teenager. I am almost a senior citizen.

I wasn’t familiar with the blocks, so I’m really glad you reviewed them. Maybe they’ll add some larger sizes if the blocks are popular. I’m so happy I introduced you to the sketchbooks - they really are great. I haven’t found anything I like better. Thanks so much for the mention, my Friend! All the best to you & your family. xo

Thanks Mark so much for the video. It is awesome video as always. I like your expression about the paper as it is thirsty for water. Thanks mark for sharing the talent, the experience and the innovation with everyone. All tour videos are really piece of entertainment and innovation.

Good to know the paper that isn’t a hundred percent cotton are still worth it. Thank you. It was good to see the wet paint in the surface to see how it absorbed. Nice thank you cards, a chorus of happy, goofy people saying “thank you” 😄

Thank you so much, @cw8758! I was skeptical about the 50% cotton. I've worked with other brands in the past that were also 50%, but these are much, much nicer. The hot press retains the texture and expectation of hot press, while the cold press was a lot more effective than I expected. I'm liking these blocks! And thank you for the kind words about the chorus of happy, goofy people! lol! Cheers ~ Mark

Hey Mark, how is it going? I can imagine that you are very busy lately, however i been wondering if you are doing Inktober this year? 😊
@MDCampbell Жыл бұрын
Hello my friend! Thank you for reaching out. I am taking a very different approach this year and not following prompts. So, to answer your question, "no, I am not doing Inktober this year." However, I am doing Marktober, indulging in a personal project and applying the same dedication and passion I have for the past 7-8 years doing Inktober. We'll see what happens! How about you? Planning on challenging yourself?

The paper looks nice but why the size is so small? There is nothing I draw can fit in this size. 😅A5?! I can't paint on A5. I need at least A4 size actually I start to feel that A4 is too small for me now.
@MDCampbell Жыл бұрын
I was tentative about the size, too, but after working with it, I can see many practical uses. Since I work in A5 sketchbooks, the size isn't unfamiliar; however, like you, I prefer to paint on larger sizes. These blocks are fun and I can see enjoying them completely! Cheers!

I saw on Amazon an Etchr A4 size book is $110 Canadian. Waaaay too much$!!!
