Hearing James turn into AVGN for a brief moment during the pit scene was wonderful.

I was kind of hoping that you'd mention that for a fighting game it has a pretty good story line. All the characters in the game are from different time periods and are actually dead. They were all killed just moments before they were about to achieve greatness. So they are all brought back by a powerful being to take part in this tournament and the winner of it will return to the moments just before they died knowing how to avoid it so they can go on living and change history.
@shawdawg36758 жыл бұрын
Yeah, like Larcen goes back before a bomb goes off, and ends up making a crime force that takes down organized crime forever. RAX ends up shooting a blast that destroys a remote control designed to shut down his cyborg systems to throw a fight and reveals that cyborg fights can be fixed.

If you look at the box for the Saturn they advertised a new one. Then Virtua Fighter came out and Sega prioritized that.

Same, the Genesis version seemed clunky, but this upgrade should have sold shittons of copies. Its pretty much Street Fighter with MK gore, cool.
@ReverendCharles8 жыл бұрын
There was a Saturn sequel planned, but if I remember correctly, Sega canceled it because they didn't want a Western produced game competing with Virtua Fighter.
@kyuubinaruto174 жыл бұрын
I think it would have been a far better game if the computer didn't blatantly cheat. Either make it like Street Fighter where both characters can use their specials as often as they want or actually make the damn computer unable to use their specials if they don't have the energy for them. It's also just ridiculously unforgiving. The AI is far too competent, and if you lose even once you go back two fights rather than getting a continue. And on top of that you have to face the final boss 4 times before winning. The stupid thing is that if you do the training bits one of the options is to choose the difficulty level of the AI opponent. Why the hell isn't this an option in the actual game???

I'll tell you: I have a strong love/hate relationship with the original Genesis game. It's cool if you're playing two player, but playing against the computer is fucking impossible. You can't stay too far away because they steal your power, you can't get to close or they'll block everything and throw you. Every time you lose to a person, it sends you back to the person before that person. I'm a pretty good gamer and I can't imagine ever beating that game.

To be fair it did take MK a long time to get real gory with fatalities. This one just did it all the way earlier
@EnforcerX718 жыл бұрын
The main reason for that is because Mortal Kombat used digitized actors, which limited what they could do, while this used drawn animated sprites like Street Fighter did. When Mortal Kombat changed to actual animated character models in Mortal Kombat 4, the Fatalities got more brutal, which have since gone into overdrive with MK9 & MKX.

One of my all time favorite games! This game is a masterpiece. Awesome story too. They actually thought of a reason that makes sense for all these people to be fighting in a tournament, and they explained the story and each character beautifully in the intro cinema. Usually, only a couple characters in a fighting game grab my attention, but there were manythat I played the whole thing through as. The music is great too. It's the only game I ever ripped the music from to listen to by itself. Also, wow. When did Mike get so complainy? "Would be nice if it would put their name & country on the character select screen." Is that really even worth mentioning? It's not that hard to figure out, especially if you watch the awesome cinematic intro that shows all the characters and their backstory.

Same here with the cart version. I tried to play this the other day via emulation on my homebrewed Wii, and still found the moves hard to pull off, but have almost zero trouble with something like King of Fighters series, or Guilty Gear pulling off moves all day long. It's a real shame they did not make the moves easier to pull off, and having not watered down the cart version, because this could have been a really special game series we might still be playing today.
