Druig really surprised me in this flick. He ended up being probably my favorite character, which is odd because he’s the Eternal I like the least in the comics. In the comics he always betraying earth and the Eternals for selfish reasons, where in this movie he rebelled against them to give humans more of a chance. Just another classic example of the MCU changing a character for the better, in my opinion.
@LilDaggerDickDegi3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I fully agree, I think he was the most capable of preventing the hurt that the humans went through and he was forced to hold back from saving them so it would've emotionally ruined him more than the others surely. The quote he said to Ajak before he left Babylon was probably my favorite few lines within the whole movie

I viewed the scene of Cersei teaching kids about apex predators as foreshadowing that the eternals are not in fact the guardians of the humanity that they think but, in reality, the worlds biggest predators. Deviants hunted the humans and eternals hunted the deviants but, until the killing of Ajak changed them, the deviants never hunted them. They always went for humans first until the fight where Cersei turns the bus into petals. I feel like that’s part of why they had the prime deviant call them murderers. They don’t just kill the deviants, they’re responsible for the end of a thousand worlds while the deviants just wanted to live.

That's true. Rock blades, properly made, are sharp and hold an edge well, though in the film, the boy was struggling to cut a fish with it. IT didn't look obsidian to me, but even so, that wasn't accurate. Long before Mesopotamia, humans were taking down mammoths with rock blades on spears. Gold, however, doesn't make a good blade. It was pretty, but it wasn't an improvement to the durability or sharpness of the weapon, at least it shouldn't have been.

another little thing is that the name 'karun' in hindi means compassion. it's not very common as a name so i believe they chose to name the major human character to really drive home the themes about prioritizing love over purpose for the eternals and that the compassion they feel for humans ultimately overpowers the need to trade lives by letting the human race die for further creation of life.

The over arcing story wasn't that clear and is just too 'out there' for most modern film viewers. There isn't really an antagonist, maybe apart from Ikaris who was just being a d@ck. @dreamersfolly3 жыл бұрын
I still can't quite understand why the eternals were created the way they were. What was the point in keeping the truth about the mission from them? If it was that they would better fit into whichever world they were placed in, why isn't it that close to the birth of the Celestial, a 'switch' would go off and essentially make it that they wouldn't care for the inhabitants of said planet; mission complete time to go 'home'. They are synthetic beings and literally a God-being designed them, it wouldn't be hard I reckon especially since the movie made it a note to include Arishem saying that they programmed them, I'd have thought the programming would be sufficient enough so as to not allow a repeat as with the deviants to occur again.
@HenryLoenwind3 жыл бұрын
As powerful as Arishem is, he doesn't have the capacity to custom design minds in a way that they can actually function well and be effective over thousands of years. He has to take whatever personality develops, selecting those who work for him and discarding those that don't. And it seems those he got don't work well with the goal of their work, but that doesn't matter because there's no way they could stop the birth of a celestial, even if they were to learn about it before it happened.
@dreamersfolly3 жыл бұрын
@@HenryLoenwind Interesting. For me it's still not adding up. How I'm processing it is that it's almost as if he purposefully designed the eternals that way; to bring about a certain response/effect that we as the 'viewers' can't fathom or understand yet (like the fact that he saves the memories of the eternals to better understand deviants). We're talking about a being that has existed for billions (possibly trillions of years) and he hasn't perfected a way to create near-perfect 'wardens' to carry out the tasks? The eternals themselves shouldn't fall under the limitations set by biological beings since they are synthetic, so why were they hindered to such an extent? Then again it's not as if we know how they are created to the extent for the questions I pose to be answered. All I'm saying, since they've been existing for millions of years it's weird that they aren't designed as near-to-flawless as they should have been. Ugh I need more context lol
