@@meowJACK not to be pedantic but it is possible to help treat clinical depression through some lifestyle changes, and people with regular depression can have severe or chronic cases as well without having a genetically or developmentally disordered brain. but this is kind of irrelevant (to the alpha's argument) because it varies case-by-case and people with severe depression need both medical doctors and professional psychiatrists/therapists/psychologists/social workers to treat their issues

@@joshn1678 Dunno where you live, but a break in or being jumped is a very realistic possibility in many places. Both have happened to me. And wanting to be physically strong to be more prepared does not equal being afraid of everything you see. There's also the idea that if you are able to take care of your self first and foremost to that degree, you are more likely to be able to do the same for your family. Whether that's being powerful enough to protect them from actual violence, or just having the mental clarity to make the right decisions for them which can be supported by that physicality.

@@aj-lh2yx totally get your perspective, bc these things def happen, but living in fear is not healthy. @@aj-lh2yx Hey man, a loaded gun doesn’t give an F about your six pack or mental clarity. We don’t live in the stone age. @@aj-lh2yx I am so sorry this has been a reality for you. I think it is extremely important to institute resources in society that make it so people don’t get so desperate as to break into your home, take things from you, scare you, and hurt you. Nobody deserves that. I would say it’s a flaw in society (I live in the US) that people even need to be afraid of that, or become desperate enough to do such a thing. You shouldn’t need to get strong to be able to defend your home, nobody should be doing that to you in the first place. Cultural change needs to occur to prevent this from happening. The flaw is not in the man who “cannot defend his home”. It’s in a society that doesn’t protect its people. Men like the interviewee are trying to put the blame on you, not the forces at large explaining why this happened in the first place. I just wish he was able to put it into words better. I wish it was explained to him that there’s a difference between going through a situation that makes you feel sad or depressed and being clinically depressed with not necessarily any root cause at all other than an imbalance that genuinely may not be helped by anything but the proper medication
@lcsquad. Жыл бұрын

@@SpookyBEX serious question because I don't know much about depression so I'm genuinely curious, if you're clinically depressed you're just permanently sad forever? Like no matter the situation of your life, you are always just going to feel sad or disconnected or empty? I know it's not 24/7 every waking second but I mean just in general yk
@SpookyBEX Жыл бұрын
@@xFaytal no, not at all. Clinical depression, like other mental health disorders, is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. That can be caused by a lot of different things and is different for everyone, from severity to length in time, etc. My personal experience in my mid twenties was caused by a change in my hormones from birth control. There was nothing different in my day to day life, nothing that should have really made me feel the way I did, I just suddenly was having trouble getting out of bed, I was exhausted all the time, sad, anxious, and unhappy. It took a long time to realize what the issue was for me, but luckily I eventually did. In the meantime, antidepressants were the only thing that genuinely helped after years. Some people naturally have this imbalance in their brain and they are born that way. But being clinically depressed doesn’t mean that you can’t have good moments, or even days. And as I said before, the severity differs. Ethan has shared his experience with his depression and why antidepressants were right for him. But that also the difference between a genuine chemical imbalance and a situation that makes you feel a certain way, which MAY be able to be dealt with naturally, but doesn’t completely cut out the need for medication either

Which is also consistent with how they describe women, always either stupid and irrational or practically like mindless animals. Sometimes akin to robots. Just look at how they talk about "game" and getting women to like you, it's like they're describing luring an animal or entering up up down down A B start.
