RIP Ethel Ennis. Stayed home in Baltimore and said she had no regrets. Did it her way. Nice.

Born : November 28, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland. Ethel Ennis first won national recognition for her recording “Lullaby for Losers” in 1955. In 1958, she was selected by Benny Goodman as the female vocalist for his all-star band. Later, she was chosen as a featured singer on the Arthur Godfrey Show. After performing at the 1964 Newport Jazz Festival with Billy Taylor, Cozy Cole, and Slam Stewart, she appeared with Duke Ellington and his Orchestra on television's “Bell Telephone Hour.” She followed those amazing achievements by wowing them at the Monterey Jazz Festival in duets with Joe Williams. She returned to her hometown to perform in concerts with the Count Basie Band and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. During that same period, she shared the bill with Cab Calloway at Harlem's Apollo Theater and played supper clubs and concert halls all over the country.

She says "who would love to sample my supply?". My dear Ethel...I already have..always will. She has one the illest voices on vinyl. She kills anything on mainstream radio.

cool, real cool, like a whirlpool, dipping into a better venue, with a match made in heaven on the menu, the central nervous system gets moved, and I enjoy the blend brewed, the bitter sweet, the better speech, like a feather's reach, spread my wings on her breeze she sends through, me, I feel the past through the speaker, and the tone will vibrate, ignite the soul and gyrate, thoughts into a warmer climate, rattle the membranes with a note that's engrained, never forget the songs that remain, some of the best that will gain, more traction than the most of todays, lost and insane, too self absorbed and in vain, thinking the world revolves around the orbital path of their brains...
