Very well said. I backed it on KS and had the a lot of the same opinions as you. To me it seemed to put the artistic and innovative aspects above functionality. I sold my copy.

re: the board, the intention I believe was to make it equitable to all 4 players at the table, keeping them all engaged. Solo players were very vocal about this, and whilst I understand their frustration, there was little acknowledgement of the issue that AR tried to address, so could come across as a little one-eyed. fwiw AR did release a horizontal pdf for people to print off and even commission their own alternative board / playmat. A reasonable compromise given that the production was complete by that point. re: slumbers, there's quite a bit beyond the simplistic view. Yes they can get repetitive, especially if playing in a concentrated block of gaming, but less so if playing less frequently. ln addition, the deliverance mechanism, when unlocked, allowed slumber skipping in V1.0. Finally, Rahdo explained very well, how the flow of slumbers -> dreams gives a way of prepping for dreams, that caused issues for people skipping them. Fair comment re: the surreal nature, and yes I think that was in the mindset of the designer.

Turn it horizontally? Seems a no-brainer

then all those detailed maps full of hidden clues are turned by 90 degrees, making them less readable. So your options are to see the main map from afar, or upside down if sitting next to it, or turned by 90 degrees if the board is horizontal
