Etho MindCrack SMP - Episode 134: Collecting Things

Today we do a bunch of random things. We play the death games, check out the pvp build site, collect some things, and check out the corroded strong hold.

Glowstone: You got witchfarmaccess ;-) If you really want to use the cracked/mossy bricks you could ask Zisteau (was probably all him ripping apart the fortress) perhaps he got some spare left from his spawnfarm-building.

Etho: Since you aren't worried about all of the little details when making the worker shack, it's going a lot quicker than lots of your builds, but it also looks amazing! You have good instincts when it comes to building, you just have to trust them :D

The upstairs room could be like a place where the winners get to leave a sign and a date or something. Like a trophy room? Maybe that would require a new building or wouldn't fit with the "worker's shack" building.

Etho, in the small rooms in the worker's shack, you should put some beds and maps of both sides of the arena for the teams to look at before a game! Just a thought to give the rooms some purpose.

I like the idea of having tunels and secret entrances to Areas so it i not just one big area. I think it will be more exciting. It migh take People longer to get to other parts of the map but I think it will be ok. You could also have a different theme in each room and different hazards/traps. I think that would be great! Keep up the tremendous work

If a stone brick takes blast damage but doesn't break (which should be common, because it's so resilient) it should turn into cracked stone bricks imo. It'd make it hard, but not impossible to farm (you'd need lots of TNT, or you'd need to go dancing with Ghasts and Creepers)

Etho! If you don't have an idea what the map would be styled as, other than sunken, try to do a sunken fort or western town! If you've already figured it out, no worries! :)

I really like the western town idea, I had an old desert mining complex in mind myself. TF2 has some good inspiration along those lines.

Etho! You can get the "circle" (Its called "Chiseled") Brick in Survival Minecraft without cheats! There is 3 blocks of it in every Jungle Temple, there the only blocks that have levers on them, theres only 3 levers (Duh) and are used for one of the Secrets (Not really a secret at all) So you can, but you can only get a very few amount, because the Jungles themselves are rare now (There a "Hot" biome) and the Temples in them are also rare! and after that, you only get 3 Chiseled blocks per temple!

Etho, for the arena, if you can figure it out, and you're pretty smart, it would be really cool if you have different fighting environments, like one portion of the arena have a woodland feel, one portion a nether feel, and so on, or you could swap out the entire arena with different environments just to spice up the play style and make things interesting. It would also be cool if you had a mock cave going form one side of the arena underneath it to the other that people can sneak up behind someone else with.

Cauldrons could be used to modify blocks into the different block variants. It's not like they are being used for a function other than aesthetics... Give it a GUI or something that makes sense to modify block types.

I was thinking moisture growing on the blocks would be analogous to mossy blocks. Differences in temperature or pressure in water could crack something easily. Anvils would have to be used to make chiseled blocks to make any sense though. Water rushing over something could smooth things out. Needless to say, a block modification block would be useful in the game... An underwater boss?

DerEineDa96 Maybe each variant would require some obscure method: Cracked Bricks could be dropped when you blow up regular stone bricks, Mossy could be converted using a cauldron or spread underwater, Circle Stone could be formed when you drop a mob on it from a high distance (it has a bullseye resemblence).

This is how you should be able to get cracked/mossy/circle bricks. Mossy: Bonemeal stone bricks. Cracked: Drop anvil on stone bricks Circle: Four stone bricks crafted in the same shape as a crafting table for four circle bricks

But that exclusivity, having to find the stronghold to get those blocks, is part of their mysterious allure. and if you do any kind of end base, tearing out the stronghold should give you a plentiful supply of each (excluding circle of course)

I think putting stone bricks in an anvil should allow you to turn them into cracked stone brick. From there you could combine it with vines to make it into the mossy cracked stone brick.

Etho, as far as I know Zisteau stripped the stronghold of all the cracked and mossy blocks a while ago for his jungly temply farm building at spawn

Etho, I have a tip for you. Use dispensers and comparators. Power all the dispensers to add a point. (Space them 1 block apart and use droppers and hoppers) then place all the items back into the default dropper to reset. :) Thanks for reading this if you do! Bai

Hey Etho! Just a heads up, you can get the chiseled stone (circle blocks) in survival, but they only spawn in Jungle Temples - and there's only 3. They're probably the rarest block in the game next to portal blocks, silverfish spawners and dragon eggs.

it's nice that certain blocks are limited, it lets people display their wealth and dedication. If you want access to every block, use creative, they have added many sources of mossy to the game.

I always though that 8 stone in a square would make 1 chiseled stone brick (rare), 8 stone brick with 1 cobble in the middle for cracked stone brick, 8 stone brick with vines/leaves in the middle for moss stone brick. also, 8 cobble around vines/leaves for mossy cobblestone. these are still harder to get because it requires someone to make shears to aquire the necessary crafting elements

Circle stone bricks are actually obtainable in survival vanilla. Each jungle temple has 3 circle stone bricks (with levers on them). It's not enough build anything big with, but it's fun to collect and use a few blocks here and there.

I think it would be cool if you could control the area through a certain room, somewhat like the actual hunger games. For example. have a button that makes water shoot out from the sides, have fire charges shoot out and make things or people get set on fire. And also even have piston underneath the terrain that way you can switch the terrain up. or open up trap holes in the ground.

Etho, there are 3 strongholds, The main Enderpotal that you were in in this vid, there is one Vechs found near his base which means there is a third pristine stronghold that no-one has touched yet.

Mojang should add something like this: Mossy cobble/stone bricks, put one mossy cobble/stone brick with regular cobble/stone brick with water and they will spread Cracked stone bricks, make a hammer tool that can smash the stone bricks into cracked ones

No, I might want to put some mossy blending with my other blocks close to water, I don't necessarily want it to spread so everything gets mossy. I think the effect looks better if it's spread evenly across the area I'm building.

EthosLab The first stronghold i found on my old map was just the portal room an nothing else, it as kina weird it was jut the portalroom and it was in the middle of a huge open caverns at lava level.

The smallest stronghold I have seen is in my newest world that I created for 1.7. It tried to generate in a deep ocean biome it is truly just the portal room floating about 4 blocks from the bottom of the ocean.

Etho, perhaps you can some reward for the winner(s) of a match in the PvP arena, and perhaps players could make wagers with each other over who wins, this isn't too big on redstone or any other thing minecraft wise, but it would bring everybody together, creating more communication and a social game as well, all really wish to see is for you guys to be having fun so maybe this could be fun for you guys. Just a thought. I also highly dislike to see you with one or two other people on the server, though I do understand that there are times when you guys must work, take care of your families, and lots of other things that draw you away from video games, not to say it's a bad thing.

Yes he did, I was completely oblivious to this when I wrote it, and it didn't occur to me until now, thank you, but that was about two people or more fighting over land, they could settle it in the PvP arena, but maybe there could be some fights for fun as well, but it's up to him and the others, I think it would be done under the table regardless.

If you add carpet it won't look as good, it's a wood house so it would better if you stayed with natural wood look, if you do use carpet it should be eather orange or a dark colur

Hey Etho, I'm currently on the episode where you start the Death Games 2.0, and I wanted to come to the latest video to suggest an extension on the idea; What if you made a bounty board/building. Anyone could put up a price for the death of one of the mindcrackers and whoever did it was payed. Kind of a targeting system that would encourage people to kill each other like you deviously intended in the first death games. Just a suggestion, thought it might be cool.

The citcle brick spawns under the levers in jungle temples. It is technically "obtainable" but very uncommon.

The Mindcrack Server really needs like a Public Service Announcement thing that people who have news for the entire server sends a message to and they like make a video with all of the announcements. Remember when you could make cracked stone bricks by mining stone bricks that you placed? It was great D: And infinite lava was a good one too. I do agree that the cracked and mossy stone should be craftable. The chiseled stone would be nice as a craftable item as well, only getting 3 per temple is bogus!

You can get the circle stone brick in survival but it isn't common... It is found in jungle temples, three in each, it is the block the levers sit on

Hey etho, you should definitely put a piano upstairs, and maybe like some have slabs with mincarts pushed into them at some pressure plate tables, so the when you sit at the table, a dropper underneath the table would shoot some food at you while you listen to piano, and maybe hide a record player? First of all I'd like to see more work on the redstone section of the PvP arena, I love seeing how you make the capture points work in vanilla and also all the ideas you implement. Secondly we need longer videos! And stuff them with progression. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that we love videos far more when you get stuff done because it makes us excited for the next episode. Btw when people are wanting more videos, thats usually a good think because we need more etho! Never stop. :)

That was a really good death games fight with Zisteau there, but it's a shame that it didn't count because he had already been killed by Anderz, but the chest hadn't been cleared to remove his name :( Hopefully anyone on the server who has watched this video, will learn from that mistake and make sure to clear the death games names chest in future after having defeated/lost against the person! But yeah, once again the worker shack you've built just keeps looking better with any new additions/progress made on it :) It's crazy how torn-up those strongholds are though, it seems like some people really went to down with mining all those cracked/mossy stone brick blocks :o it pretty much looks like an abandoned/ruined stronghold now anyway haha!

Just an idea for the remains of the stronghold: seal off some ends of it so people can't escape, and use it for crazy PvP battles!

Yes you can get circle stone brick in survival Minecraft. Its called a JUNGLE TEMPLE and it has 3 of those bricks.

Etho, Zed took the blocks for the plant farm in spawn, I believe you'll find the entire stronghold blocks implemented in his building.
