I like the idea of using your cosmic npcs as redstone replacements. The idea of you building a village filled with huts, a lumberjack, a stonemason, a mechanic, and they refine your raw materials for you, or draw your carriage through the new path, or plant and mill fields collecting you food, or cheffing up food for you in the kitchen. I can't tell you how happy I am to see an episode of this series! I started playing modded Minecraft for myself by taking mods I'd seen used in your videos across the years and it's been a lot of fun! I've been watching for 5 years and will keep watching until you stop making videos :)

i think the thing that i love so much about Etho is how he is so honest and real. no fakery or anything like that and its just so refreshing.

When I lasted used CustomNPCs, it let you set up hirelings and enemy/friendly factions. Hirelings could be fun, especially given how difficult the modpack seems to be.

Yes! So happy you're messing with npc's again. It was my favorite part of your previous modded series, and I think a little more life is something vanilla minecraft builds often lack. (And villagers hardly do anything, the npc mod is amazing)
@averageaf43212 жыл бұрын
I personally like the custom npc mod a lot. Although the hard drive one is crazy and interesting, I think the custom npc mod can do a lot with very little and will go a long way in populating your world

oh i'm very excited to see what you'll do with the npcs! in general i really love how focussed you are on making the world feel immersive, both with the roads, rivers, and rails plan, and now with the npcs too. i love watching this world slowly grow into something that looks lived in. it's a process that's both very inspiring for how i approach my own game play, and it's very cozy to watch :)

I think using a command block is fine . As long it's for some cosmetic or immersive reasons .

With custom NPCs you can cheat as well! Use cosmic NPCs, its easier and more fun to use for you, and because of more option itll be more fun for us to watch. :D Love watching your vids, I love em all to death! Keep being you Etho! :D

I believe your NPCs should constantly be making obscure references that only you or long time fans will understand. Also having them doing idle stuff like say you build a prison for pillagers and their allies where they're working at cobblestone generators, or having large scale smithing things with like 10 NPCs hitting anvils with hammers looking cool and stuff.
@anobaka57312 жыл бұрын
A cool, almost "nod to the past" thing to do would be to use the Cosmic NPC mod to re-create or reimaging the Dreary Ville scene skit that Etho did in the LP Series (ep 400). I just instantly thought of Etho making all the random but creative off camera projects we've seen in the past just seems too fitting. Anyhow, love the videos as always Etho!

Hi Etho, I really enjoyed this episode sorry to hear that you were sick I'm glad you're feeling better. I think you should go for the command blocks, I feel the exact same way with using them in my singleplayer world I wouldn't do it but I think because this is modded why not. I really like the idea of making your modded world come alive with it I can imagine travelling merchants along your horse paths or perhaps someone to sail you across the lake on a boat like a gondolier. You can also have people running around maybe setup a hopper clock with random events where a robbery happens or something along those lines.
@michaellowit53612 жыл бұрын
Etho, I really like the idea of command block triggered npcs. Imagine a tripwire or something on the forest path that randomly spawns npcs doing something. That would add a lot of life to your world
@Penguin-qp2wk2 жыл бұрын
My favourite part of your first modded season was seeing NPCs randomly wandering around just doing their thing in the world. While with enough redstone you might be able to do accomplish that with CosmicNPCs, I feel CustomNPCs is better suited to permanent NPCs in the world. In short I would say keep CustomNPCs and, if it doesn't conflict, keep CosmicNPCs for certain encounters/purposes. P.S. Loving this new series, can't wait for more!

This is an insane intro-standard, Etho! I really love it, but remember to take care of your health. You don't need to do more every episode. We love you for being you.

If you end up creating a form-function blend for a mining area, like a quarry or a more conventional mineshaft, it would be really cool to occasionally see some NPC miners come across different paths. Maybe they're on their lunch breaks moving kind of slowly, or hurrying up to clock into a shift. It wouldn't need to be too busy, but maybe occasionally you see a miner come across an intersection you've dug out.

I like how the Cosmic NPC mod makes you an active actor in your world. It seems like a great way to engage with the environment that lets you create stories and tools. I also liked how you prevented duplicating items with the dispenser setup. I have no issues with the commands blocks. I suggest having a recipe associated with them, either an honor rule or a literal crafting recipe. Something high tier but not unreasonable, like the lodestone recipe or the enchanting table recipe. This would make the NPCs have something of a cost and a journey associated with them, which neither of the NPC mods seem to have by default.

Etho when you placed pinchy into the tank in the previous episode you picked him up again in the bucket which might have removed his name tag. Don't want to lose pinchy so soon!

According to the Minecraft wiki, mobs caught with a bucket then released do not despawn. Don't know if that applies to Pinchy, since he's from a mod, but it's probably fine.

Definitely agree on keeping custom NPCs they're just too good. This entire series has given me way too much inspiration and desire to come back to Minecraft. Consider crossing the holes with small wooden walkways instead of filling them in. Gives it a more rustic untamed nature feel.
@humanplanet542 жыл бұрын
This was one of the most fascinating episodes ever. Dont feel discouraged that it might bore your audience! Realistically, i would be so interested in an episode down the line where lots of buildings or areas are finished, and just watching you create / have the audience vote on versions you would create. I imagine a large trophy room like you were building in your LP, but of memorable moments (that endermen chase scene etc). Building small areas that you can press a button to watch some scene play out.

I really like how vivid Cosmic NPCs movement is, I think if it isn't too performance intensive - having an entire village filled with life and NPCs that actually *do* things is really cool.
@mauritsgeerligs85962 жыл бұрын
Keep both mods! Custom NPC is really nice to spice up the world with living things. E.g. a bartender of a gardener which walks around. Cosmic NPC would be great for actions, like ordering food. You can easily delete the duplicated items by lava as you said. And only using command blocks for spawning in the cosmic NPC would not harm the integrity of the world in any way. Keep up the good work! You are rocking it

I don't know a lot of things about modded, so unfortunately I can't offer any valuable insight into the mods you use. But I will say that you're doing a wonderful job making modded content interesting for folks like me who otherwise wouldn't have checked it out. Can't wait to see all the stories you'll create in your world! :)

Hi Ergo, i highly doubt you will see this comment. However on the off chance you do please know that I love your content and can’t get enough of it. All of your series’s are amazing, all of them. I have spent the last few months watching all of your content, and I believe I have watched every last episode you have made related to Minecraft. Of course I’m going to watch the rest, it will just take me a while. Oh and btw in my personal opinion my favorite series of yours is the crash landing one, Idk what it was but it was the best at highlighting your unique way of playing.

I started to type a big message about how you should keep custom npcs until you mentioned the limitations of 5 - 10 npcs. I think introducing command blocks into the world certainly sets a precedent, but I think the possibilities of cool redstone events could really make the world feel like an old harvest moon game. Characters doing certain things at certain times under certain conditions. Custom NPC sounds cool, but I think there's just too much potential in the idea of many many redstone NPC events, its very classic JRPG which is fitting considering the build style.
@NirateGoel2 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly sure that limitation is only for scripting the customNPCs. For using them as is without extra scripting they should be fine.
@MuchButLess2 жыл бұрын
Etho now that you're doing stuff with the NPC mods, I've always had an idea you could do in your single player worlds that maybe you'd be down to try. I think it would be cool if you built something that your friends in the Minecraft community such as Bdubs or anyone else you've known for a while have an influence on whatever it is you decide to build. With my example being like maybe you ask bdubs for a design of a house and you then recreate it either identically or with your own spin on it and then you can have an npc version of Bdubs living or interacting in whatever it is you've built! I feel like there's many other things to do with the idea but yeah this is just what I've come up with.
