Minecraft survival. Today we check out a few subtle building projects I've done, play around with tunneling, and then prep the world for the changes made by Minecraft 1.11.

This was amazing, I was dying of laughter. I love Etho, he's SO ridiculously creative when it comes to videos and animation and editing and it's so refreshing in a world of KZbin with so many money grabbers. Long time supporter (although not at long as many) and I'm so glad that I've never stopped watching your LP. The creeper head was amazing obviously, and when you went "on no they're attacking me" or something like that, and then dove into the rabbit hole... I laughed to say the least. 5 stars Etho, every time.

Hey Etho! I found a way to tunnel without using transparent blocks for the ceiling. If you transition from transparent ceiling to non-transparent ceiling, the game tries to stop you by nudging you back, but if you sprint, you can break the barrier. Interestingly enough, that first block you traveled to becomes a weird sort of conveyor-belt pulling you towards the transparent ceiling. You also don't take suffocation damage unless you sneak.

Etho, I got my son Minecraft a year ago and Ive been addicted to the game every since then. I started watching videos on youtube about the game shortly after to pick up interesting tips on Building and redstone. I have to say that your channel is the best of them all. I really am only interested in vanilla Minecraft and love your lets play but I however was entertained by your minecrack UHC contests and was laughing watching your battle with Bdoubleo. That was a battle. Or should I say a forever butt whooping. Best when watching both of your prospectives. He is rather funny taking that beating like a champ. Etho, you should make rabbit holes and tunnels all over the mancave and possibly to different parts of the world. It would be really cool you could also put secrets in the tunnels in case you ever do a world download for people to find.

60 FPS is really nice. :) KZbin renders each video and each resolution also with 30 FPS, even though it might not be availible for watching. Lower resolution on mobile phones though are always 30 FPS or less.

I think signposts might make an interesting addition to your map. Like, when you exit the man cave, there would be a sign on a fence telling you that sandy city was to the right. Use F3 to tell if it's east, north, etc.

to fix the xp elevator: lower the piston with the slime block a couple of blocks. this will leave a hole down which the xp orbs will fall, land on the slime block and get shot up (through the same hole) intermittently.

Dont worry Etho, I think your slightly-outdated style suits your content. 60fps isnt needed. 1080 is nice, but most people cant even reach that on mobile devices. I say you stay the same.

just imagine in XX years they would say: "WHAT?, in 2016 it took 20 minutes to upload a video to the web?" cause at that point in time you can simply record the entire world and upload that in source quality and super high fps so you can even zoom in, look around and slow time down. and it would take a blink of the eye to upload. just imagine that...

I find that 60 fps is not necessary for Minecraft videos. At least, I don't feel like it is needed. Now, if you played a lot of modern games then I could see it becoming necessary. If you do start to play a lot more graphic intensive games, then 60 fps. But if it stays mostly Minecraft, I see no real need. Save the rendering time.

I have played around with the tunneling and: 1.) You can go under solid blocks; if you sprint, you overpower the force pushing you back. You do not suffocate, unless you sneak. 2.) Using tunneling, you can speed mine on one layer instead of two, so your pick wears out less. 3.) 0.625 blocks is also the space between a chest below and a top slab above. 4.) Keep playing around with tunneling, it's awesome! Maybe make a secret base?

gtx 1080 wont be helping alot with 1080p/60fps. Minecraft is a cpu intensive game. With a world this big alot of memory/ram would be good to. A new gpu (gtx 1080) would only help with visuals, like if you played with shaders and dont get good fps a gpu upgrade would be smart. but in your situation buying a 600 euro gpu wont give you a big fps increase/ lag decrease

He uses a GTX 770 and an i7 4770k. Going to a GTX 1080 (or even a GTX 1070) and a newer skylake or haswell-e processor, I think it would be a good upgrade for rendering and recording videos.

Fatal FuZion ofcourse, going to the new genaration of cpu's would really help. Getting a i7 6950x would be great for minecraft, but wont be necessary or be a good bang for the buck for playing minecraft. thats why i recommend not to upgrade the gpu or dont do a expensive gpu. like getting a gtx 1060 or 1050ti will be a good idea imo.

Regarding tunnelling: If there are solid blocks above you can still sprint and force your way in. Once you get past the edge block, you can move about freely, as long as all the blocks around are solid - if you go next to a transparent block you'll be ejected out again though. You can also use pistons to push a solid block behind you to make it easier to enter. If you press sneak while tunnelling, you will "stand up" and be able to peek above the ceiling, and even press buttons and things there. If you try it under solid blocks, though, you'll take suffocation damage. Bear in mind for multiplayer that while tunnelling, other players will see you as though your just standing normally, your head sticking up into through block above you, so you may not be hidden when it feels like you are, though they shouldn't be able to access your hit-box. And yeah, building miniature houses is quite a fun challenge. =]

Etho, when you get a new computer, what are you looking for. Faster, or better quality. I do not know much about computers, but I recommend you do not just choose the first good one you see. You should think about what you REALLY want. Also, I just want to say that you are my favorite KZbinr! You are amazing!

Chazarian Island yeah, just get the best gpu, cpu and motherboard you can. Thats all you need to furture proof since ssds are not really necessary, power supplies are cheap and cases are cheap, but dont get the absolute best of the 3 main components. Just good enough to not become completely obsolete in the next few years.
