Today on our 2015 Hyundai Tucson, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pole flat trailer connector. Part number 118501. Here's what it looks like. The reason you'd want one of these, because with this system, with the module, it's going to isolate your vehicle lights from your trailer lights, and it's going to isolate any backfeeding 00:00:25 from your trailer into your vehicle. This system is designed to be stored away inside your hatch when not in use, with this little dust cover that's going to cover up the wiring. We would just close it up, it's out of sight. When you're ready to use it, you just take it out, set out the amount you're going to need, close your door back up.
Now it's going to be 00:00:55 all right, you can set it on top of the weather stripping, then when your door closes, it's going to hold it in place. You just want to make sure you keep it away from the center, where the latch is at. You can close your hatch over it, hook it up to your trailer, and you're ready to tow. When you're ready to put it away, put your cover back on, open up your hatch, you can just coil it back up and just tuck it away inside the spare tire carrier. This is what your kit's going to consist of when you open up the package. Here you have your converter box, your four flat trailer wiring, with its protective cover.
Then we'll have the wires to the left and right tail lights, and our hardware package. This roll of black wire is what's going to run your power from the batter to the back of your car, to operate your control box. Now, let's go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our install, we've flipped open our cargo hatch on the bottom. We're going to take out our taillights with a Phillips screwdriver. Then we take our plastic panel tool.
You can take your palm and just kind of tap back at it. It should release. Sometimes it takes a little extra help. You can get somebody to give a tap as you're pulling on it from the other side. It just fits into a little groove there around this plastic knob.
Once you've got it out, you're going to go ahead and press in on this little tab. It will release, and we'll set our lights aside. We'll repeat this process on the passenger side. Now we're at the bottom side of the car. There's a plastic panel that goes up in the fender well, here. We're going to need to remove that, so we'll take a Phillip's screwdriver, we're going to turn the screw out a little in the center of this plastic clip. Then we can take a panel tool or a flat blade screwdriver, pry it down. Once you have the center out, pop that out, set it aside for re-installation later. You can just grab it and pull securely down. Set that aside, and we'll repeat that process on the passenger's side as well. Now we can see there's a rubber plug right here. We're going to go ahead and remove that plug. That's where our wiring's going to come through the floor. We'll just et this aside, we're not going to reinstall this, or you give it back to your customer. We're going to put a piece of nylon tubing or fish wire up inside there, and we're going to try to fish it out to the corner, so we can catch our wires and pull them down through. If you don't have any plastic tubing or a fish wire, you can use a piece of coat hanger, anything that's going to hold a nice stiff angle around the corners in there. Push our tubing up inside the car. Now we can go on the topside and attach our wires. You'll see there's going to be a grommet with some wires coming out of it. You're going to have your yellow and brown wire, it's going to go to your left taillight. Your red and green is going to go to your right taillight. The right's a lot longer, so we're going to tape that onto our piece of tubing. We can take our wiring, we'll push it back through the opening underneath this panel, and we'll start to pull our fish wire. Now we have a couple feet of the right side wiring attached, or pulled through the hole, we can attach the left side wiring with some tape to the other wire here, and we'll continue to pull it down through. Before we push the rest of our wiring through to the grommet, we're going to put our two sided tape that comes with our kit, apply it to the back side of the module. This is going to set back inside there and we won't be able to reach it once it's in there. Don't 00:05:03 pull the rest of the wiring out. Just reach in there, now just pushing your control box back in there, you want to make sure you keep out the white wire with the ground loop on it, so we're going to secure that the floor of the vehicle
