Hi there Toyota owners. Today on your 2020 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Truxedo TruXport soft tonneau cover. And this is what our tonneau cover's going to look like when it's installed. It is a soft cover, but it pulls nice and taut and it gives it a very nice look that is going to be streamlined across the entire top bed of your truck. Keeping out any moisture such as inclement weather might provide. And it's also going to help increase the aerodynamics of your truck by allowing the air to float completely over it, not getting caught anywhere inside the bed.
So the vinyl top is a texture that gives it a nice appearance and the fabric is UV resistant. So it's going to maintain its color and it's not going to dry rotten crack over an extended period of time out here in elements. Now, our tonneau cover is more than just making our truck look nice. It's also going to keep our items that we've got stored in our truck bed dry, and it's also going to help prevent theft because if you can't see it, there's no intention to anybody's going to have to take any items out of your truck, out of sight, out of mind, as they say. Let's open it up and take a look on the inside at some additional features, there's a release lever located on each side because our cover is held in place. On each side.
A latch on each side is going to ensure it stays secure and also that it stays taught. Once we pull both, we're going to fold it back and it stays taught due to the self-tensioning mechanism. And you can see that here with the spring loaded mechanism, it's always going to be pushing that bulkhead towards the rear of your truck, keeping our fabric nice and taut, but this is the best mechanism you can have for a system like this, because it can expand and contract with temperature. So as you have different days with humidity and its temperature gets hotter or colder, the vial is going to want to expand and contract. And if it's too tight, then it's going to cause it to split and damage itself. But with the spring loaded mechanism here, it can fluctuate with that expansion and contraction ensuring we have optimal tightness at all times without causing any damage.
And as we continue unwinding, it you'll hear the hook and loop fasteners coming loose. Cause it does fold across the sides here and give us a nice angle. So all that moisture is just going to run off and the hook and loop is going to hold it tight. We also have beams that run across at different increments, so that way we've got support on the structure. So you could set some items on top. I don't recommend putting a lot of weight on there, but if you've just got a light box need to sit down while you open your tailgate up and you should be able to do so .
Now that we've got it fully rolled all the way to the front, you can see here that it takes up almost no space here in our truck bed.Maybe just a couple of inches is all that we're going to lose. So we basically have full truck bed access with this tonneau cover. We can leave it in this position using the straps that hang down inside. There's a hook on those. So we're just going to pull this around the top and hook it onto the loop located on the other side of our bulkhead here, and now with both of these in place, we can drive around town and use our truck as just a regular truck bed, throw some wood or any kind of tall item that you need in here and get your work done. And then when you're ready to close everything back up, it's as simple as just pulling the loops off, on each side and then we can roll our cover back down. And the system's also not going to take up much of your time getting it installed. It's clamped in place. You can see we've got three clamps on each side and it's custom designed to work with our truck. So our clamps will fit in our existing rail system, going down the side of our bed rails there. And they'll just slide in and we can clamp it down. And this gives us a very sturdy place to clamp. This is actually a little bit nicer. I feel like than a lot of the other styles that clamp around the bed rails. It feels very sturdy inside that rail system. It's extremely easy to install. You do get everything that you need included with it.The only tools you're going to need is just a socket or wrench for your clamps and you will also need a Torx bit for your bulkhead at the front. So you can install the seals. Once we get here to the back after unwinding, it, it simply just sits into the grooves there and we push down to lock it in place. And then we can shut our tailgate. Now that we've gone over
